09:12 am Incognito and Unmasked (companion piece) by PsychGirl (Explicit)
And now back to the angst end of the pool!

Fandom: THE SENTINEL
Characters: Jim Ellison, Blair Sandburg
Length: 1023 and 2911 words
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] snycock
Author Website: at AO3 and at Artifact Storage Room 3

Why this must be read: We get a chance to delved into the murkier bits of Jim’s psyche.

In “Incognito”, Jim’s keeping a secret from Blair. He feels guilty about it, but also compelled by it. “Unmasked” is from Blair’s POV and starts somewhere in the middle of Incognito’s timeline.

These were originally written for Sentinel Thursday for separate challenges. It looks as if PsychGirl has archived “Incognito” at AO3, but not “Unmasked” yet. Enjoy.

Why this must be read:
A Russian living in America, Illya often is quoted as missing something from home. The assignment this time not only brings back memories of his childhood but puts him in touch with dancers from his country. This story gives his strong feelings of home and enjoyment of those around him until a secret takes some of the joy away. Knowing that a caring relationship can never happen, he uses his skills and his partner’s help to put an end to a Thrush plot.
I found this story’s “Twists and turns, drama and angst” enjoyable and not always easy to figure out. A story with tons of surprises and oh yes Serena makes an appearance. As a mystery nut, Pas De Deux give me many opportunities to try to figure out what is happening. Glennagirl has many other great stories and hopefully you’ll enjoy them as much as I do.

Why this must be read:

What if the Seal People were actual seal people? I really like this fic for its worldbuilding and the way the mythological aspect of it blends so seamlessly with the canon. The Seal People don't get a lot of focus in fic so finding something with such lovely writing and gentle pathos is a treat.

Another smaller corner of canon that deserves highlighting is everyone's favourite Uncle. This fic offers a lovely insight into Aquila's past and his worries for Marcus post-canon. With hints of Rome and his own time in the legions in there too it pays tribute to family, both adopted and blood, and warms the little cockles of my heart.

06:57 pm In The Frame by Dawnwind (Explicit)
Fandom: THE PROFESSIONALS
Pairing: William Bodie/Ray Doyle
Length: 49,016 words
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] dawnebeth

Why this must be read: I love this story. It is a crossover with characters Dawnwind introduced me to last year in her big bang story, For Kicks. "In The Frame" is not a sequel but a story in what now can be called a series of crossovers with The Professionals and The Racing Game. Sid Halley and Chico Barnes are the two private detectives in The Racing Game who are friends with Bodie and Doyle. The four lads investigate the murder of a jockey, the drugging of horses, and the fixing of horse races.

Go forth and enjoy a writer whom I enjoy in several fandoms. Oh, and there be kinky sex in this story. That makes me very happy.
