I remember staying up until ungodly hours of the morning, absolutely riveted. This intricately plotted, emotionally turbulent examination of all things Brian is definitely an
experience. It has all of the elements of prime escapist fiction: high drama, angst, and romance that defies all obstacles. Oh yeah, and it's absolutely epic in scale. There's even a sequel,
Reconstructing Brian. A couple of things to be aware of before reading: the characterizations are very much Season One Brian and Justin. Also, an original male character is featured prominently throughout the story and does become an issue for the B/J relationship. Rest assured, Brian and Justin are together at the end of this fic, but if OMCs irk you, I'd suggest steering clear. Other than that, the premise is quite interesting: this is an alternate universe where Brian ends up taking a job in New York City, leaving Pittsburgh (and Justin) behind. While in New York, Brian begins to see a therapist, Lydia Johnson. Much of the story is presented as the sessions between Brian and Lydia, and it's fascinating to see Brian and company through the eyes of an impartial observer. All in all, an absorbing read.
