02:26 am Hay Fever by torch (NC-17)
Fandom: HIGHLANDER
Pairing: Duncan MacLeod/Corey Raines
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] flambeau
Author Website: The Flambeau Factory
Why this must be read:

This is a hot little PWP. In it Duncan and Corey have a little roll in hay. Quite literally in this case. Takes place back during Amanda and Corey's bank robbing days, in which Duncan tagged along for the ride. A moment of respite from the chaos that was Corey and Amanda teamed up. A lazy summer afternoon in a barn. Corey getting on Duncan's nerves. Sexual tension rolling off of the guys like the summer heat until they finally have to do something or combust. I could really see this happening back in this time frame on the show. Two guys who can't stand one another, yet have UST rippling off them. It's hot, steamy, fun, and works with the pairing. What more could you ask for.

01:58 pm Chicago's Most Wanted by speranza (NC-17)
Hi, I am [livejournal.com profile] partners4life and your driver for the month. A little info about me: I am a die-hard Ray K. fan. I started watching due South because I adore Callum Keith Rennie (and on the recommendation of a friend that Fraser and Ray K. were "slashable").

So, this month you will be getting a lot of stories that are Ray K. centric and focus solely on the Fraser/Ray K. relationship. (Sorry this girl don't do Ray V. and Fraser in a sexual relationship. I am not offended if you swing both Rays, to each their own. *g* But, I see Fraser and Ray V.'s friendship as brotherly, not lover-like. In fact, I happen to like Ray V. with Stella in most stories.)

So, be prepared for a month of Ray K./Fraser stories. If that is your thing also, jump in the van and let's have some fun. The bar is open!

My first rec...

Fandom: DUE SOUTH
Pairing: Fraser/Ray K.
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] cesperanza
Author Website: http://trickster.org/speranza

Why this must be read: Speranza is probably my favorite author in this fandom. I cannot think of a single story of hers I don't enjoy.

However, Chicago's Most Wanted is my favorite. I read it every three months because it is the best this fandom has to offer, in my opinion, of great writing.

This story has everything, Fraser is undercover in prison, Fraser gets beat up in prison and gets amnesia (who doesn't love a good amnesia fic?), Fraser busts out of prison and becomes a bank robber.

What?

Yes, Fraser becomes a master criminal and he's very good at it. Ray figures out what has happened to Fraser (the blow to the head has scrambled Fraser's brain and he really believes he was in jail because he's a bad guy). Ray tries to stop him.

What follows is pure bliss. High-jinxs, hot sex and some of the funniest dialogue you will find anywhere in any fandom!

Can it get any better? Fraser thinks he's having a clandestine affair with the cop who put him in jail! You have to read the rest to see what happens.

Hi, [livejournal.com profile] laylee here, and I'll be your Sports Night driver for this month.

I've been wandering around the Sports Night fandom for about four years now, as both a reader and a writer. I have to admit that I'm a die-hard Dan/Casey kinda gal, but what I appreciate most about this fandom is the sheer quality of the fic that has been produced in it. Therefore my aim this time around to bring you a nice selection of fic from across the fandom, be it het, slash and anything in between.

So, on with the show.

Fandom: SPORTS NIGHT

10:34 pm Time's Needle by Reefrunner (PG-13)
Hi, I'm kixxa, a reader and writer in the wonderful Farscape fandom. I held the reins of this runaway horse back in March and here I am again (this time with a handful of sugarcubes).

Fandom: FARSCAPE
Pairing: John, Scorpius, Furlow
Author on LJ: I'm not sure if RR is on LJ
Author Website:

Why this must be read:

I love a nice meaty story with a sustained plot, great characterisation and believable dialogue that could have come straight from a weekly episode. Reefrunner takes a complicated plot of wormholes (naturally!) and time travel into an unrealised reality, and also throws in a planetary raping of a vital resource, while adding a multitude of characters with cross-purposes, grudges and hidden agendas.

But make no mistake, Reefrunner is a clear and lucid writer, in control of her plot and a meticulous researcher into technical details and sciences. Even if you're not a fan of Farscape, if you're a fan of sci-fi, this story will appeal to you.

Sometimes, I want to squeeze more from Reefrunner's writing, angst-wise she always stops a little short for me, but that's just my preference. Needless to say, I really enjoyed this fic. I found this story on the Kansas board early one evening and didn't finish reading until several hours later - and I was in the middle of writing a fic of my own at the time.

11:16 pm Life's Footprint By N.L. Hayes (PG)
Fandom: THE MAN FROM U.N.C.L.E.
Pairing: none
Author on LJ: No.
Author website: None, but this story can be found on www.File40.net.
Why this must be read:

In my opinion, N.L. Hayes writes the best Illya Kuryakin in the entire fandom, bar none. Her take on the character won’t please everyone, particularly those who are more accustomed to Kuryakin either as the Ice Prince or the cute hottie. Her Illya is neither. He’s complicated and nuanced: cerebral, quick witted, dry humored, pragmatic, Marxist, politically motivated, morally aware, highly principled, steady, dependable, trustworthy, loyal to a fault, very much the rational realist, and very Russian. If I was a field agent (like a certain head of Section II), this is the guy I’d want watching my back and bailing me out.

Although she hasn’t written many stories, what she has is choice. This intense, poignant and ultimately enigmatic tale is probably the best. The agents are in a desperate situation: a bomb has just gone off and Solo is trapped under a pile of debris. Clinging to life and consciousness, Solo asks Illya to talk until help arrives, to tell him “... interesting things. Things that will make me listen. Tell me about your family...” And Illya does.

Or does he?
