06:56 pm How I Spent My Summer Vacation by JenC and Celli Lane
Fandom: ALIAS
Pairing: None
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] celli and JenC doesn't have one
Author Website: Here
Why this must be read: The space between season one and two inspired a lot of good fic. It's really what inspired me to go search out fanfic for this show. I'm going to try and rec some fic from this time period, hopefully no one will mind if I take a little trip down memory lane.

This is a fun story that I feel perfectly picks up from the end of season one and personally I don't think I would have minded seeing this universe get expanded. Also you must love a story whose summary is : ""Fencing, fighting, torture, revenge, giants, monsters, chases, escapes, true love, miracles..." No, really. Well, maybe not the giants." It has all the characters and they are all completely in character. They even go back to the CIA and include some LA action, which includes Weiss my very favorite character.

07:38 pm Shiny by Ximeria (PG-13)
Fandom: SMALLVILLE
Pairing: Clark/Lex
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] ximeria
Author Website: Sweet Dreams...
Why this must be read:

Right now [livejournal.com profile] svmadelyn is posting a Smallville fic based on Bedazzled, but this was the original. It's also one of the first fics I ever read in SV fandom, and it continues to be one of my favorites.

Lex is a RIOT as the devil. He is just... And Clark's responses to him-- *dies laughing*

I'm afraid I can't adequately describe this story beyond how hilariously WRONG Clark's wishes turn out, and right when he realizes what he should've known all along...

Well, it's got a really sweet ending.

Sadly, Ximeria has left SV fandom for SG-1ier pastures, but maybe, just maybe, we can bring her back.

You can find Shiny here, and be sure to leave Xim feedback!

07:39 pm Just What I Needed by Evangelene (PG-13)
Fandom: SMALLVILLE
Pairing: Clark/Lex
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] evangelene
Author Website: None
Why this must be read:

*dies laughing* Just... *wipes tears from eyes* From the moment she posted the first little bit of this on her LJ and said it was just something she thought of and it wouldn't be a WiP, I was begging for more.

It's an AU. Martha's a drunk and Jonathan's her battered husband. Lionel is a loving father who never got over Lillian's death, and wishes he could just bring poor, shy Lex out of his shell. Lana... Lana... *bursts out laughing* I can't spoil it. You have to read Lana. Chloe's a cheerleader who has a tendency to contract VD. Pete and Whitney are twinks who are so, so in love.

You really do have to read this to appreciate the intricacies of the characters. Because while they are So Different from their counterparts on the show, in a lot of the ways that really count, they're still the same which is why their relationships with one another still make sense.

You should definitely read this story. You're missing out if you don't.

Just What I Needed can be found here, and be sure to leave Evangelene some feedback!

08:21 pm The Blue Book by Lullenny (PG)
Fandom: LORD OF THE RINGS
Pairing: None
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] lullenny
Author Website: Odd Buttons
Why this must be read:

This story is set in Minas Tirith after the destruction of the Ring, and gives the reader a wonderful, detailed look at Frodo as he is both learning how to live without the Ring, and getting ready to leave Middle Earth. The Blue Book of the title represents so much - the love and support the other hobbits show for Frodo, the importance of telling *all* of their stories, and even the writing process. This story includes great details like Frodo learning to get along without his missing finger - so significant to him as a writer. It is a pleasure to read, and makes me feel fully immersed in Tolkien's world.
