02:07 am A night on the town by autiotalo (PG)
Fandom: THE MUMMY
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] autiolato
Why this must be read:

When Evy gets Rick out of prison, the master of it tells her that Rick had a very good time in Cairo. This is a funny piece about said good time.
Follow Rick into the adventures Cairo has to offer during the night... and yes, this does include bellydancers.

03:32 am Hurdles by Ludjin (R)
Fandom: STAR TREK: ENTERPRISE
Pairing: Trip/T'Pol
Author on LJ: unknown
Author Website: unknown
Why this must be read: In the last hiatus before Bound aired, a challenge went around the Trip/T'Pol community for authors to write their own version of the episode, based on whatever spoilers they'd heard. Ludjin met that challenge with a well-executed plot, good characterisation and a resolution that doesn't completely destroy canon.

06:16 pm It’s Always Easier to Run Away by Alison Glover (PG-13)
Fandom: Star Wars: Original Trilogy

Pairing: None

Author on LJ: Unknown

Author Website: Equally unknown, unfortunately. All attempts to search for her webpage have just lead to several different fic archives. The one linked to at the bottom is the most comprehensive I've found.

Why this must be read:

This is just an amazingly insightful fic, concerning a missing scene in ROTJ when Han goes to talk to Luke as Luke heads to confront Vader. The author pulls together many details in ways I'd never connected them (for example, Luke seeing his aunt and uncle burning in ANH, and the scene in ROTJ where the Ewoks nearly eat Han, Luke, Chewie, etc.), yet it feels very natural. The story pegs Han's thought process dead on, and Luke, Leia, and all the others are very much in character. It's a very thoughtful piece, and one that's well worth reading. Be warned it is a bit long for a one-off, though, so you may want to have lots of time available before starting to read it. :)

Excerpt: Han suspected that he himself was doing an excellent impression of a stunned poolfish. )

It’s Always Easier to Run Away (Note: The site asks not to directly link to stories, so I have linked to the Author's page on the Correlian Embassy instead. I did ask the author for permission to directly link, but they have not responded. If they do, I will edit and put a direct link to the story)

A Note on the Rating: Because none was given, I gave one with the best judgement I was able to figure.

08:59 pm Severus and the Crup by Josan [NC-17]
Fandom: Harry Potter
Pairing: Harry/Snape
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] josanpq
Author Website: Josan’s Website
Why this must be read:

For some reason I knew this existed for ages before I actually read it – I don’t even remember why. However, when I actually read it, I couldn’t stop and stayed up well into the night (or early morning)... That’s how good it is.

The plot is fascinating: After the war, Britain’s witches and wizards are left without magic. Everybody is forced to cope with living in the muggle world, and some people are doing better than others. Severus Snape is living in a house/shed in the middle of nowhere when he finds a crup – especially fascinating to him as all magical creatures vanished with the magic...

Go read right now!
