12:46 am Paradigm by Sigrid (PG?)
Fandom: THE SENTINEL
Pairing: Jim/Blair
Author on LJ: Not known
Author Website: Here, but it seems to be down
Why this must be read:

This is an interesting look at Blair's life post TSBS, working as a cop, because it's one thing to be a part time police observer and another thing entirely to be a full time cop. The story begins with one of Blair's cases going south while Jim is out of town at a conference, and then details the fallout over the next few days.

05:05 am A Way to Fall by BIBW (R/NC-17)
Fandom: QAF: US
Pairing: Brian/Justin
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] burnitbackwards
Author Website: N/A
Why this must be read:

This story is an AU series composed by one of the most well-known authors in the QAF: US fandom. In the story, Brian and Justin are both attending a Christian boarding school and meet each other purely by coincidence -- or is it fate? Besides timeline and setting, the other major difference from reality in BIBW's tale is the fact that Justin is out and proud and Brian is still so far in the closet that he doesn't even realize he's gay yet. But Justin can -- and does -- change that.

Following Brian's journey of self-discovery is sometimes painful and sometimes achingly beautiful; BIBW maintains the canon theme of Brian's homophobic father's abuse and gives it the twist of being the catalyst for Brian's denial of his true self. There's a lot of room for an AU fic to go wrong, but BIBW manages to tell this story with a combined grace and candor that keeps the reader coming back for more, wondering desperately what will happen in the end.

And this isn't even mentioning the really, really hot sex. :)

05:13 am Go by Reinabelle (NC-17)
Fandom: QAF: US
Pairing: Brian/Justin
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] reinabelle
Author Website: N/A

Why this must be read:

When provided the challenge of writing her own version of the series finale of Queer as Folk for the community [livejournal.com profile] comingthengoing, Reinabelle went in a completely opposite direction from the rest of the fandom.

Ever wonder what it would be like if Queer as Folk met Thelma & Louise? Or (to paraphrase [livejournal.com profile] url_girl) what an episode of QAF directed by Quentin Tarantino would be like?

Now's your chance to find out. At times hysterical and others completely frightening, Reinabelle takes us on a journey with Brian and Justin that we will never, ever forget.

07:56 pm Kryptonite Series by Reggie (R)
This weekend, I'm reccing the Kryptonite series. Since it's a multi-story series, I'll just stick to the one entry;)

Fandom: STARSKY AND HUTCH
Pairing: Starsky/Hutch
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] reggie_mbq

Why this must be read: They say the past can come back to haunt you and that's the set-up. The boys had a weekend that they can't remember and they're about to find out a little more about what took place. They were photographed in compromising positions that have to do with their deepest secrets. First up is Hutch and his addiction. Okay, this is bad, but they can handle it. But then comes Starsky's past, live and in living color. The one thing that nobody knew, not even Hutch, is exploited. At the end of the first story, they whys aren't completely eliminated, but the who is. The next story picks up 6 months down the road. The past will not stay buried, but maybe it's not supposed to. What Hutch knows about Starsky now cannot be taken back and it's a good way for them to move forward. The past, the present, the future. It's all coming, crashing together. It's up to them to survive it all.

08:56 pm Aliquot by elistaire (PG-13)
Fandom: HIGHLANDER
Pairing: Duncan/Methos
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] elistaire
Author's Website: Taterville
Why this must be read:

In "Aliquot" [livejournal.com profile] elistaire has written to the mysterious aspects of the Immortal Quickening and what it means to the Immortals who possess and receive it.

There are many stories in which Immortals, usually the elder and more powerful, have learned to control or otherwise manipulate their Quickenings to their desires. Although not written out as a standard of rules, [livejournal.com profile] elistaire's take on Immortal Quickenings in "Aliquot" is unique.

This story is written well and has that comfortable, soothing feel of an established relationship between Duncan and Methos that always makes me want to read more.

I hope that others enjoy "Aliquot" as much as I.
