Fandom: THE SENTINEL
Pairing: Jim/Blair
Author Website: Story found at 852 Prospect
Why this must be read:

What can I say? I love strong!Blair. I love angsty!Jim. And I love tattoo stories. And saying any more would really spoil this puppy.

Blair stared, eyes wide, as if Jim had clubbed him with a sledgehammer. "You think..." he said, each word measured as a dose of explosive, "today...had anything to do with you?"

"Of course not, Sandburg, I keep forgetting how dangerous it is teaching classes," Jim snarled. "This has nothing to do with you riding along with me and getting exposed to every dirtbag and psycho in the Northwest!"

Blair's jaw dropped. Then he did the last thing Jim expected. He laughed.

"Jim, do you want to see how safe I've always been?" Blair stood up and walked around the table. "How safe I was until you came along to be my personal bodyguard? Look. Take a good long look!"

With that, Sandburg undid his jeans and shoved them to his knees, along with his underwear.

Why this must be read:

This is a really cool story. It's based on a concept that Jae wrote about in her story Sight [joey/justin]. In Sound though, Justin stops hearing JC's voice. It's a fascinating and creepy idea and Liz plays it out wonderfully. Also, the story is set during the guys' most recent tour (aka a few years ago now) it deals with a lot of the issues us fans have been dealing with since the hiatus about why the group decided to take a break, and about Justin going solo.

It was while they were at Atlantis that Justin started to get worried about JC. He was so quiet. Generally, JC was pretty spazzy, babbling about something that had caught his interest, singing along to something in his head that only he could hear. Always singing. To JC, life was a song, and he wanted to harmonize with it. Justin could hardly remember a time before he'd lived with the sound of JC singing in the background of his life.

Author Website: None
Why this must be read:

In my opinion, one of the marks of a good writer is the ability to say a great deal with only a few words. In this fic, [livejournal.com profile] glass_moment proves that she can do just that. Set years in the future, long after the end of Rings, Billy and Dom find themselves together again after a lengthy time apart. Their relationship to each other is explored through their relationship to the house in which they live.

A week later Billy descends the stairs to the cellar, looking for a box of chocolates that Dom swears he left down there. On the wall of the stairway he finds a sentence written. A pile of rocks ceases to be a pile of rocks when one man looks upon it and sees a cathedral.

What does it mean? he asks.

I don't know, comes the reply, I was hoping you would.

Author's Website: None, but her fic is all listed in her memories.
Pairing: Brian/Justin
Why this must be read:

I adore this story. Ariel is an author that carefully crafts everything she writes and the result is always something beautiful. This is set just after the events of 507 (if you've seen Season 5, you know the one) and takes three completely unrelated prompts she was given and weaves them into one cohesive story. I love her Brian in particular and the use of the second person POV gives you a fascinating look into his state of mind.

Fandom: CSI: Crime Scene Investigation
Pairing: Nick Stokes/Warrick Brown
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] vicxntric
Author Website: Erratic Muse
Why this must be read:

My last fics are going to deal with Grave Danger, the fifth season finale that saw Nick buried alive, tortured and very, very close to death.

The first of the great fics that came out of this episode is an epic of a story. Nick's trying to cope with being buried alive. Warrick's trying to cope with seeing Nick suffer and being in love with him. Slow revelations make this story impossible to put down, as you wait and wait to see how it's all going to turn out. Nick's parents are real people, a little too overbearing, but ultimately good-hearted. Every main character and lab tech gets at least a mention here, which makes me happy.

Plus, the sex is really hot and angsty and great.

Lots of h/c for both Nicky and Warrick, as they deal with the emotional and psychological reprecussions of Nick's ordeal. Somehow, VicXntric makes you feel as bad for Warrick as you do for Nick, and considering the circumstances, that is a feat.

Go, enjoy, savor it over the weekend. You won't be disappointed.

Why this must be read:

What would fandom be without the Groundhog Day convention?

I've always loved Giddy's writing -- she brings such a wonderful humour to everything, while still keeping an underlying thread of more serious relationship development to the telling if you look below the surface -- so I knew from the outset that I had to rec one of her stories this month, and this just had to be it.

It's the little touches in Daybreak that stand out the most for me. The slight twists Giddy puts on the recurring events, how the story unfolds with each bit of additional knowledge adding to the whole.
