He does want company, but the company he wants is unlikely to want him in return. He turns away, moving quietly back the way he came.
"I know it's you, Doc. Come on out here."
Simon hesitates. The invitation has novelty value if nothing else. Mal has been avoiding him this week. In the dance they've been doing since Simon came on board, he has suddenly found himself without a partner.

Fandom: POPSLASH Pairing: JC/Lance, Lance/Jesse, JC/Nick Carter, many others Author on LJ: fluffontopAuthor Website: Fluff on Top Why this must be read: I promised that I'd slip some Nsync-ness into the mostly-BSB content this month. Though it is a crossover (with almost everyone in pop music showing up at some point), but from BSB, only Nick Carter plays a large role. This story is the collected entries from the livejournal, valiumbitch. It isn't a transcript of an RPG, it is a great story in diary form. And you must read it for one simple reason - it's hysterically, wickedly, side-splittingly funny. The journal title may claim "Am not crazy like pigeon boy" but JC definitely marches to his own beat, and can never figure out why things keep getting so screwed up (alcohol and sleeping with the wrong people are usually involved). Capp brilliantly wove it around events as they happened, incorporating random and unforseen things seamlessly into the narrative. There are a few entries in the journal beyond what is archived on the website, but the archived sections have a nice feeling of closure, so it's not really a WIP. If you haven't read it before, definitely make time to do so, you're in for a great treat. And if you have, can you really re-read it too often? Luckily, Chris calls me early in the morning, before Lance has time to wake up and shoot my beautiful theory to pieces.
"Hey, C," Chris chirps. "How're-"
"Chris, listen," I am hissing into the phone so Lance won't hear, "so I kinda slept with Lance, right, but I only got him off. Like, I went down on him but I didn't let him touch me at all, and I didn't even kiss him because, you know, kissing someone feels nice and... so, yeah, I think I'm still chaste, right? I got him off, but he wasn't allowed to touch me, and I kept most of my clothes on. Right? Chris?"
On the other end, Chris draws in a sharp breath. "Right, uh, apart from the fact that I am on the radio right now, that's really fucking hot, C."
I feel myself pale. "W-what?"
"JC Chasez," says some unknown DJ's voice in my ear, "we have your friend Chris here and he says you have an album coming out so... eh, so would you like to tell us about it?"
