01:38 pm Inclinations by uschickens (PG -13)
Fandom: POPSLASH
Pairing: JC/Lance
Author on LJ: Unknown
Author Website: Unknown
Why this must be read:
Because it's so sweet. I have this huge kink for the stuck-together-in-a-small-room cliché, and this is a funny, silly, sweet and wonderful take on it. JC and Lance are stuck, on Christmas Day no less, in a "inclinator", in Vegas. It features fake Egyptian music, Aerosmith, too many Starbucks cards, and a very real Lance and JC. It's fluffy, but not soppy, and well worth a read.
Excerpt:
"Wow. You're right. The noodly fake Egyptian harmony does sound better with a bass line mixed in." Lance looked impressed, then horrified. "No. No, JC. I know that look. Stop that. Do not write a noodly fake Egyptian pop song in five part harmony. I will leave the group and never speak to you again. I swear."

This week's recs are all about the bitterness and angst.

Fandom: LOTRIPS
Pairing: Elijah Wood/Orlando Bloom

Why this must be read: The first big fight of any relationship paves the way for what's to come, and this story shows that, warts, want, pain, misunderstandings, guilt and all. *happy sigh*

08:38 pm Wooster's School for Wayward Girls by Yahtzee (PG)
Fandom: JEEVES & WOOSTER
Pairing: none that I may divulge...
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] yahtzee63
Author Website: Yahtzee's Fic
Why this must be read:

Disaster has struck at the Wooster domicile. News comes that both Madeline and Florence have chucked their suitors after Bertie makes them an ill-advised present of love poetry. Will he be torn to shreds between the warring two, or does Jeeves' calm demeanour herald a change for the better? An unexpected and top-hole read - even rivals 'The Mystery of the Pink Crayfish'.

Fandom: STAR WARS PREQUEL TRILOGY
Pairing: Obi-Wan/Qui-Gon, Qui-Gon/Xanatos
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] hippediva
Author Website: The Crow-Witch's Croft
Why this must be read:

This story is one of the most unique and lovely in the Q/O part of the fandom. Padawan Qui-Gon wanders off into an A Midsummer Night's Dream like AU and has quite the magical and erotic encounter.

He stopped beneath a great arching oak and sat down, closing his eyes, breathless as the sunlight touched his lips, so warm and soft and real. No beam of light could kiss thus, lips as elusive as a dream but every bit as desirable. He didn't dare open his eyes, hardly dared to breathe. Tender touches along his neck made the hair rise up and he drew back in a shuddering gasp. The soft lips claimed his again, and he whirled away, lost in the sensations that seemed to envelope him in a cocoon of golden warmth.

11:08 pm A Matter of Faith by Mrs. Spock (G)
Fandom: STAR TREK: THE ORIGINAL SERIES
Pairing: none

Why this must be read:

To me, at least, Spock's decision to pursue Unification with the Romulans is, on the face of it, pretty illogical. Stories like this, along with some profic, have made that decision make much more sense. This story is about faith, and believing in a cause. Set on Romulus at a time when Unification seems most unlikely, Spock talks to one of his students about believing. A Matter of Faith is a very nice characterization of Spock and a good exploration of the Unification plot.
