01:21 pm Will You Remember Me? and Stand in the Light by Arianna (NC-17)
Fandom: SENTINEL
Pairing: Jim/Blair
Author Website: Ari's Aerie
Why this must be read:

As a writer, there are some stories that stay with you and spark your own creativity. This is one that had that kind of impact on me. Arianna comes at problems sideways in this AU by having Jim, Simon and Megan go off to Peru without Blair, leaving Joel and the others to cope as Blair takes a turn for the worse. They return to find the near-death experience has stolen away Blair's adult memories... but the cause -- and the cure -- is different from what they assume.

I can't take this," H growled, his voice tight, riding over Simon's singing. "I'm sorry. But this isn't right. How many different ways does Sandburg have to die before we treat him with respect or acknowledge the truth?"

01:33 pm A Part of Me by Jess Riley (R)
Fandom: SENTINEL
Pairing: None
Author Website: Jess Riley
Why this must be read:

Jess writes amazing, angsty buddyfic, but my all time favorite has to be the Part of Me series. It's so easy to make kidfic saccharine-sweet, but Jess does a wonderful job of showing Jim's struggles to raise three-year-old Blair. What's interesting about this fic is Blair's past traumas, which force Jim into the unique challenge of trying to coax back Blair's exuberance and willfulness without going too far and turning him into a brat. The whole series is really splendid and well worth the read.

Damn, there it was again. Who the hell would be knocking at the door at six o'clock in the morning? Well whoever it was, was about to experience some serious pain. After spending the last thirty-six hours cracking a major drug ring, he was tired no, rephrase that, he was dead tired, and whoever was at the door was going to pay dearly.

He angrily heaved himself out of bed and stomped down the stairs to stand in front of the door. Not bothering to look through the peephole, he flung the door open and shouted, "Do you have any god damn idea of what time it is?" Surprised at the lack of intruder on the other side, the big man looked around... and then finally down.

05:29 pm Catch, Finish, Drive, Recovery by Pix (PG13)
Fandom: THE WEST WING
Pairing: Donna/Cliff
Author on LJ:
Author Website: Fic listed here and here
Why this must be read: Donna and Cliff's chances were positively nil. She was a Democrat; he was a Republican. He was counsel for the hearings investigating Bartlet's MS deception; she lied during her testimony and he read her diary. Instead of taking the Donna(and Josh)-centric approach to these events this fic shows their liaison through Cliff's eyes.

It's a neat, outsider's take on these events. For a character with relatively little screentime the author gives Cliff has a remarkably clear voice. The motivation Cliff gives for Josh's part in this - anything happens I don't like - is something I'd really not considered, but that definitely works in the context of a guy trying to do his job well - just playing for the other team.

Pairing: Sam/Jack

Why this must be read: This is a very sweet Sam/Jack story with a sympathetic Rodney. It’s awesome.

He'd called her at a vulnerable time. The Colonel had just returned from a week's downtime at his cabin. The cabin. The fishing cabin. The cabin he had not invited her too. The first time he'd not invited her down there. Miserably, Sam had become aware that he was getting over her. And she was in no way getting over him, after all, he may have 'cared about her' or whatever, but she'd been in love with him since Edora.

Damned bloody Edora.

So she'd said yes.

Yes.

To McKay.
