08:13 am Other Addictions by Ari (R)
Fandom: ANDROMEDA
Pairing: Beka/Rafe, Ignatius/Willow
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] wisdomeagle
Author Website: various innovations
Why this must be read: in this Jossverse crossover, Ari shows us a slice of life aboard the Maru while Beka was still a teenager. Ignatius brings Willow home from a seedy little bar on a seedy little drift, while Beka and her brother work together to con him out of some "medical supplies." there's some slight Beka/Rafe incest, but Ari makes it make sense in the way she draws the characters and the world around them.

12:06 pm There Be Monsters by mcee (PG)
Fandom: Supernatural
Pairing: none
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] mcee
Author Website: none
Why this must be read:

I confess, I'm a sucker for a really good second person POV. This story tackles Dean at the beginning of his separation with Sam, and with their father. In the show we got the throwaway line that Dean had spent some time on his own in New Orleans, and that's where mcee takes us, down to Louisiana and into Dean's mind.

Not to spoil the ending for you, but everything's going to be okay.

12:46 pm Flame by Rhys (PG-13)
Fandom: POPSLASH
Pairing: JC/Lance
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] ryssj
Author Website: Experiment V
Why this must be read:
Because it sort of explains JC's fashion choices, which alone should sell it. But also because Flame is an extremely low-key love story, just moving along through its observations of JC. It's very real and sweet in a way that never really becomes fluff. And it's characterization of Lance manages to make him recognizable and yet different from most - he's more on edge, less innocent, but still head-over-heels for JC.

02:19 pm Fippy Elbows In by Helena Handbasket (PG)
Fandom: JEEVES & WOOSTER
Pairing: Jeeves/Bertie Wooster
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] hhandbasket
Author Website: Handbasket Holidays
Why this must be read:

A long, meaty read with a great set-up. It all starts when the insufferable Fippy dares to encroach on Bertie's territory, and makes a play for Jeeves... Featuring excerpts from a musical comedy show 'Mrs. Sir', where the subtext weighs approximately 7 tons and the hit song is 'I'd Like To Kiss You, Sir, But It's Time To Serve Tea'.

He was the sort of fellow who had trouble keeping track of which bits of his trousers he was supposed to stick his legs in )

07:42 pm On the Road Home by Ruby Nye (R)
Fandom: THE LORD OF THE RINGS
Pairing: Sam/Merry/Pippin
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] rubynye
Author Website: http://rubynye.livejournal.com/
Why this must be read:

I think this is one of the best things ever -- and one of the first times that I'd ever seen someone write the three of them together. It's amazing, and the characters are written with such care and love -- but still, the story manages to be incredibly hot. It's utterly wonderful, and not only can you see the joy in it, but you can also understand the tears. Ruby has this, well, utterly amazing way with words, and I really do think that she has an incredible gift. And that's just one more reason why this story should be read -- just for the joy of her writing.
