Fandom: JEEVES & WOOSTER
Pairing: Jeeves/Bertie Wooster, allusions to Jeeves/would spoil it to say
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] innocentsmith
Author Website: check lj for updates
Why this must be read:

Simply one of the best fics in fandom for speculation on Jeeves' life before he came into Bertie's service. We get some scattered references in canon, and innocentsmith takes every one of them and weaves a delicious tale of Jeeves' wheelings and dealings, from the aristocracy to American crooks, and the sartorial checks he suffers in the process.

Via disappointed love and family visits, to that favourite first scene where Jeeves comes to Bertie's door for the first time. Was it only a happy coincidence that he 'happened' to be in need of employment at the moment when Bertie needed a valet? It's Jeeves, after all...

Contains crossover hints with other Wodehouse characters, for which the author deserves a slap-up tea with macaroons on the side.

I had not been long in Mr. Todd’s service before I began to wonder if my talents might not be better used elsewhere... )

Why this must be read:

This is a longish, introspective fic about the relationship and history Dean and Sam have between them. I like to think that this story challenges the most basic ideological differences we see them struggle with in every episode. Pretty pretty boys, hurting.

Until the second time that Sam walked away from his brother, he had not known what it meant to be lost. For a month in Colorado he thought about all the times that he had seen Dean's tail lights, leaving him behind each and every time. Sometimes he thought about fighting with his father and how Winchester men held grudges until one of them died and still managed to find enough emotion to mourn.

Pairing: Jim/Blair

Why this must be read:

I've been reccing so many long, deep stories that I thought a nice, smutty PWP would make a great change of pace. Blair eats a meal off of Jim's body, with spices dollopped in strategic locations. Sweet, delicious and very playful.

"Omigod," Jim groaned, realizing what Blair had in mind. He was a living dinner plate. Then something occurred to him, and he glanced down at his body puzzledly. He grinned. "Hey, Chief, I think you forgot a boy somewhere or another. There's only eleven."

"Yeah, I know," Blair grinned slyly. "See, all these different condiments add different flavors to the curry, and for the life of me I just couldn't find the parTICular flavor I was looking for. So I thought about it and thought about it – and then the inspiration came to me."

Why this must be read:

I hate Mpreg. And genderfuck. I would never have read this story if the friend who addicted me to Sentinel hadn't begged me to locate her favorite story for her. And that would have been a damn shame, because I would have missed out on a really fantastic read. In this story, all Sandburgs switch sexes for one year when they hit a certain age, and Blair's birthday is coming up fast. But what's incredible about this story is the attention to character detail: What it meant for Blair to have his mother become a man, an experimenting stranger, for a year. What it means for Megan to take BJ at face value... and then lose her best friend. What it means to play a part and realize you're playing it wrong. Outsides and insides and where the lines blur.

Why this must be read:

The first in an enjoyable series. Bertie strikes an unexpected vein of feeling when he and Jeeves enjoy a convivial birthday evening involving rather too much of the Good Stuff. Delightfully plausible - and Jeeves at a loss, for once!

the greatness of a man who could solve almost any problem you put to him and bake cakes for people’s birthdays )

10:25 pm Chasing the Devil by lexalot (PG13)
Fandom: Supernatural
Pairing: Sam/Dean
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] lexalot
Author Website: Fiction
Why this must be read:

In the early part of the season, one of the biggest things Sam was working to get over was the life he left behind and the life he was returning to. It's easy to understand--how difficult must it be to go back to a life you deliberately chose to leave? In "Chasing the Devil," lexalot starts to show that shift that Sam has to make to survive. This is followed up by the sequel, Incubus.

Different state. Same old shit. Sam could have sworn this was what he had left behind forever. Now here he was doing it 24/7. He was bored and frustrated. If it weren't his brother, he would never have even gotten in the car. He would never have abandoned Jess long enough for anything to come close enough to hurt her. He spent most of every long drive thinking about it. Listening to Dean's entire rock collection just made him resent how that one visit from him had reduced Sam's entire life to this. It was becoming painfully clear. He'd never outrun this nightmare. He was condemned to it.
