*HR's hands shake climbing behind the wheel of the van and starting it up*

Just a little nervous about driving the van for the first time *grin* Well..here goes...

Fandom: FARSCAPE
Pairing: Early John/Aeryn; John character piece
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] catherinebruce
Author Website: http://www.geocities.com/ladydragonflyz_2000/
Why this must be read:

"Come on Johnny Boy," the astronaut grumbled to himself. "You are IASA'a best and brightest! You should have no problem opening a damn door!"

This one is based during and around the time of the Premire. It's a chance to see our poor hero before the universe got big and bad and the clouds of angst and doom decended. Ahhh, back in the time when the biggest problem was how to open an door! A humorous look at how John deals with the "everyday" details of life in the Uncharteds.

08:02 am Time on My Hands by Nestra (PG)
Fandom: ANGEL
Pairing: None
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] nestra
Author Website: Nestra's Pantheon

Why this must be read:
Those who watched season 5 of Angel know Lindsey's fate, but this story could work with canon events. No one knows exactly what Lindsey did after leaving L.A. Nestra's backstory for Lindsey and his thoughts on the events we do know about feel true to me, and give me more of a character I found compelling.

Hi, I'm [livejournal.com profile] maryavatar, driving the van for Andromeda this month. I'm a great big Tyr/Harper slasher, but I'll roll over and beg for anything well-written and entertaining. Which is why my first rec is almost gen.

Fandom: Andromeda
Pairing: Tyr/Rommie, Harper/Trance (sort of)
Author on LJ: N/A
Author Website: Fanfiction.net profile
Why this must be read: Because it's hilarious if you know Andromeda, and hilarious if you know Shakespeare, and you will laugh up a lung if you know both. It's one of Shakespeare's finest tragedies dressed up as a Shakespearian comedy, written for a sci-fi audience. What's not to like?

11:36 am Partners by Josephine Darcy (R)
Hi! Hop on in! I’m [livejournal.com profile] tatkreiswok and I’ll be driving the pick-up truck for “The Sentinel” this month! We’ve got bad guys to bring to justice, Swedish sheets to get hot and sweaty in, sensual tribal rhythms to dance to, spirit animals to guide us, Tupperware to color-code, and oh, yeah, stories to rec! Our official vehicle’s in good shape – what with all of us keeping Jim away from the wheel – so, let’s get out there!

Fandom: THE SENTINEL
Pairing: Jim/Blair
Author on LJ: unknown
Author Website: Josephine’s Place
Why this must be read:

It goes without saying that “The Sentinel” offers up endless possibilities for fic writers. The show is, after all, many things all at the same time: a cop show; a buddy show; a sci-fi show where spirit guides, hallucinations, Shamanism, and heightened senses all have their place; a show where New Age gets familiar, and conservative archetypes get less stodgy; and multi-culturalism is completely subtle and pervasive. There can be hush-hush spy-types stories because of Jim’s Special Ops past, and there can be stories that play on the social structure and dynamics found in academia because of Blair. To say nothing of the secondary characters, who are so integral to this universe that mention of them crops up in almost any story. Central, of course, to the show, and to most of the fics out there, are stories that feature Jim and Blair, Sentinel and Guide; two guys, who on the surface, seem to be complete opposites, but underneath it all, turn out to have enough similarities to find common ground together, and really need each other. It also doesn’t hurt that there’s enough UST and touching and grabbing on screen to give rise to a fandom capable of writing stories that can ignite panties across America

“Partners” by Josephine Darcy is an amazing story that manages to do the near-impossible: bring in just about every single aspect there is to “The Sentinel” – it’s a cop story; a bizarre case story; a Blair, the anthropology expert story; a 'Sentinel being possessive of his Guide' story; and a story showcasing the second bananas – and filters it all through a fine, mesh sieve of canon and fanon (i.e., Blair being a magnet for trouble in Cascade, which, as we know, is the most dangerous city in America, etc.). It’s laugh out loud funny, to boot, and contains one of the hottest and most hilarious first-time scenes out there!

Hi, I'm rache, sometimes know as either Rachael Sabotini or [livejournal.com profile] wickedwords, and I'll be driving the SGA van for June. There is a huge quantity of really good fiction in this fandom, and there is more posted ever day. I'll be reccing some older stories and some newer stories, but it's unlikely that I'll be doing any 'instant recs'. The stories will be primarily Sheppard/McKay stories, though I also love character-centered gen.

Fandom: SGA
Pairing: Sheppard/McKay
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] kageygirl
Author Website: Kageygirl's Fanfiction, though her more recent work is available through her lj memories.
Why this must be read:
This story was originally written for the first round of the multi-fandom kink challenge, before SGA fandom exploded. It's a season one team, where John and Rodney both mildly buzzed and join in one of those interesting alien ceremonies that seem to be such a part of the Pegasus galaxy, but the story doesn't stop there, and continues to follow the emotional plot that began that night. The real beauty of this story is its detail work, the way the pieces are put together, from the romantic description of the guys doing some slightly-stoned stargazing to the way the dialog in the seduction scene plays out. It combines humor and romance to great affect, making this story a really fun read.

03:21 pm Goldfish for Congress by Julian Lee (G)
Hello, I'm [livejournal.com profile] netgirl_y2k and I'm reccing the west wing this month. I like CJ, I like femslash and I like fics that make me laugh, which is why we're starting with...

Fandom: THE WEST WING
Pairing: CJ/Ainsley
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] julianlee
Author Website: The Thwarted Invasion
Why this must be read:

Because it's a charming little fic. And because although it's labeled as CJ/Ainsley it also contains two criminally underused characters, Joe Quincy and CJ's goldfish, Gail.

"You know that campaigning on federal property is illegal."

CJ looks up. "Joe Quincy. Spreading joy wherever you go."

Quincy's hands are stuffed in his pockets. Classic defensive posture. "Campaigning on federal prop--"

"As it happens," CJ says, dropping her glasses onto the desk, "I do know that. Where am I doing this campaigning?"

One hand comes out of Quincy's pocket. When CJ sees where his finger points, she laughs. "Would you like her resignation in the morning?"

Hi, I'm [livejournal.com profile] blueraccoon and I'll be driving the NCIS crack van for the month of June. While my personal preferences lean toward slash of the Gibbs/DiNozzo variety, I'm going to do my best to include all types of fic this month.

Fandom: NCIS
Pairing: Gibbs/DiNozzo
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] crimsonquills
Author website: CrimsonQuills.com

Why this must be read::

While I admit to being very slightly biased toward this fic because I've had the good fortune to beta it, the truth is that Nix has created an amazing world with this series. James and Wolfling created the Horses of a Different Color universe a while back, and Nix decided to adapt it to NCIS. Gibbs makes a wonderful centaur, and Tony has his hands full adapting to both the reality--and his new relationship with Gibbs as a result. While each story builds on the one before, Nix has designed the series so that each story stands alone. However, I'd still recommend reading them all in order, simply because they're wonderful and deserve to be read.

09:39 pm Suiting up, by Unovis (NC-17)

Hi, I'll be driving the Highlander Van for June. My favorite pairing is Methos/McLeod, but other pairings might appear as well (slash, mostly). Who knows?

Fandom HIGHLANDER
Pairing: Methos/McLeod
Author on lj: [profile] unovis_lj
Author Website http://www.geocities.com/unovisunovis/index_stories.html
Why this must be read:

I was surprised to find out that no one had recced this story yet -I checked the whole list a couple of times to make sure. This story, and its four sequels, are some of the best I read in the whole fandom. It's brilliantly written, to begin with. Methos and McLeod are perfectly characterized, with a lot of subtlety that makes them absolutely believable, and so like themselves. Duncan's selfish and demanding and even rude (and sexy. It's not in every fic that Duncan McLeod is sexy. Generally, he's too damn *perfect* or *brooding* or well.... anything... to be sexy). He's the one who initiates every move and Methos, ahhhhh... Methos is the Methos we love, enigmatic, cool and beautiful. The dialogues are spot on, the descriptions make you feel, not only like you're seeing everything, but also like you're *touching* every detail of the clothes they're wearing -since, after all, the fic is about clothes. Such sensual delight in the mere description of a suit is amazing.

And the sex... The sex is so good I could cry. Go read it. Then go read Tied; and Undone (the sex in this one will leave you breathless)

Methos walked into view. He stood at the checkroom counter, backlit by a golden light that glanced along his shoulder, his elegant shoulder, his shoulder in a coat Mac had never seen the likes of wrapped around the slouchy, casual frame he thought he knew. Methos unbuttoned his coat. He unwound the wide, dark scarf from his throat -- not the thin Indian patterned one he wore in Paris, not the striped nubby knit Mac had seen and deplored, but a wine-colored cashmere (he willed it to be cashmere, in amazement and indignation) sliding from his neck, revealing...Mac tipped the nearly forgotten glass to his mouth and gulped... a shirt collar, a tie, a suit front of a black and cut to rival his own.

Suiting up

ETA: I spent a whole hour trying to fix the messy formatting. I don't know if it's my computer, or LJ, or the connection... Sorry for that! I hope it reads better now!

HI! I'm Edie. I'll be your driver for the RPS fandom this month. I plan on sticking mostly to the WB/CW RPS type genre, but I may get wild and crazy and throw something in there that's off the wall a bit. I like to keep my options open and my RPS hot. I've found that I will read the dirty smut first, so, that's probably what I'm going to rec mostly.

Fandom: RPS
Pairing: Kristen Bell/Jason Dohring, Katie Holmes, Joshua Jackson, others
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] buffyx and [livejournal.com profile] missdeviant
Author Website: It looks like her fic is here in her memories
Why this must be read:

This fic is crackfic at its finest. It makes fun of Scientology and Tom Cruise, and that's always a good time. It made me laugh, and cry, and message all my friends with the link and the comment, YOU MUST READ THIS NOW and OMG HAVE YOU READ THE UPDATE? The fic is finished now, and truly awesome.
