Hi, I'll be your Highlander driver this month. Fandom: HIGHLANDER Pairing: Methos/Kronos Author on LJ: kaizAuthor Website: the ZONEWhy this must be read:Methos and Kronos. Garden tryst. It's a short fic, less than 250 words, but vivid and hot. (kai does give this a blasphemy warning.) Fertility Rites

Hi, I'm qbic1 and I'll be your popslash pusher this month. Since I'm addicted to everyone (though I'll say 1st tenors are just so special), I'll try to give as many pairings as possible. I admit to a fondness for xovers so don't be surprised at mixing 'n' matching. FANDOM: POPSLASH Pairing: BSB GSF Kevin/Nick centric with Nick/Justin on the side Author on LJ: zoicite Why this must be read: Very few authors manage to hit all of BSB dead on like Zoicite does in this piece. She takes the time to give each member a different voice as she ages them and allows the events that eventually overtake the group seem unequivocal. Along the way, the author gives us a parallel look at *NSYNC, a 'normal' band. Very long and involved, yet so lovely and personal, this is Zoicite at her best. Fandom POPSLASH Pairing *NSYNC Chris/Lance Author on LJ N/A Why this must be read: When Click started advertising, I immediately thought of this fic. It took me a while to find it again but after giggling though it again, I'm so glad I took the effort. Hope you will too. In a nutshell, JC kills Chris' TV. He has his 'guy' get Chris a new one. Oh, look, it has Lance'o'vision. With a little bit of effort, even Chris can appreciate the picture.
*********Excerpt
The new TV arrived the next day along with a remote covered in unmarked buttons and flashing lights.
He turned on the TV and the first image he was met with was Lance reading a bright pink book with a busty maiden and an even bustier woodsman on the cover. Chris frowned. He didn’t remember that scene from On the Line. After a few seconds, he realized it was probably the director’s cut. He changed the station. He never cared for the original On the Line and was definitely not interested in watching an even longer version.

Fandom: POPSLASH Pairing:AJ/Eminem Author on LJ: N/A Author Website: Granitite's RealmWhy this must be read: Granitite quit updating this site a number of years ago but while she was running it full tilt, she was the hottest writer of AJ/Eminem slash out there. A lot of great authors have since done great things but she was the first I remember to do things like this. This takes the idea, slants it, twists it, shakes it up and gives it a juicy new flavor. Yep, it's an au. Yes, the whole cast is there and hip-hip/pop do collide. Other than that, all bets are off. I love this piece. It gives me inspiration.
A Change of Face is at the bottom of the page in 7 small parts. Enjoy.

Fandom: DUE SOUTH Pairing: Fraser/Vecchio Author on LJ: N/A Author Website: ExcessWhy this must be read: There are a lot of HIV/AIDs scare fics out there but this is one of the best ones for me. It does combine the diffuclt subject matter with a rather touching first time story that moves into an established relationship story. The voices are well done as are the reactions of the characters, very believable. It has a happy ending but it goes through a number of hurdles to get there so you feel the happy ending is deserved. It's a longer fic but well worth the read. Shooting Star

Fandom: Farscape Pairing: N/A Author on LJ: thassaliaAuthor Website: unknown Why this must be read:This is a really intriguing, introspective portrait of Sikozou and her life, why she does the things she does. This, I think, is one of the powers of fanfiction--the ability to go soft-focus on secondary characters that don't necessarily get the attention on the show, and make them compelling, interesting, and worthy of note. She is taken by the Scarrans the cycle after your grandfather dies. A cycle later the council comes to your parents with the offer. You don’t know these hard-eyed Kalish, don’t know exactly what their offer will mean. Your sires don’t wish you to go, but Siran’s loss fuels you, sparks your decision. Regardless, it will provide an escape from the cloying sterility of your house, of your sires with nothing to say in Siran’s absence. You go to the council yourself and they send you to school.
You are14 cycles old, and determined.Double Negative

Apologies for the late start. *g* Fandom: STARGATE SG1 Pairing: Sam/Daniel (Sam/Jack, Daniel/Vala) Author on LJ: kate98Author Website: n/a Why this must be read: Harsh and intense, this is a very well-written characterisation of Daniel in the aftermath of Vala's disappearance. Hey, look, I'm here! A week late, but the recs can now begin;) Fandom: STARSKY AND HUTCH Pairing: Starsky and Hutch Author on LJ: aespositoWhy this must be read: So, first of all, it's not a happy story. It's post-SR and unlike alot of post-SR stories, Starsky's not gonna bounce back from this one like the Energizer bunny. In fact, there's not much bouncing at all. It's written from multiple outsider POVs, which makes it really effective because you as a reader know who they're speaking of and you have emotional connections with these two men that the outsiders can only touch on briefly. The progression, or rather the descent, haunts you. "You're worried I'll never get better, aren't you?"
The blond looked at the brunet sharply. Sam hoped his sudden intake of breath wouldn't be heard. It wasn't.
"Don't say that."
"I may never get better."
"Shut up."
"I may die."
"Fuck you David Starsky. Fuck you." The blond leapt up and stalked over to the window. Sam could tell the man wanted to yell or scream or punch the glass or something, but instead he started flipping through an old newspaper that was sitting on the windowsill.
"Say it. Say it. I may die."Sometimes death comes too soon. And sometimes you're forced to live. The latter option is not always the best option. Survival is often a fate worse than being released. And those around you are mere observers in the journey. Inevitabilis

Fandom: STARSKY AND HUTCH Pairing: Starsky/Hutch Why this must be read: This directly follows Blindfold. Yeah, that tag where Starsky sends Hutch down the stairs blindfolded to teach him a lesson. The boys have many uses for blindfolds and some of them are rather erotic. He came back behind the couch, where Hutch really was watching TV now and undoubtedly thinking many of the same things Starsky was. Just to check, Starsky pushed the tips of his fingers in through his partner's hair and brushed the back of his neck, and Hutch shuddered once. Kept looking straight forward. Not fooling anybody.
Starsky thought of saying so, but instead he took the dustcloth off his shoulder again and twisted it more carefully than he had before, then slipped the loop of it over Hutch's head and around his eyes, swift and tight, a double-knot behind. Leaned over and breathed into an ear half-covered by cloth, "Close your eyes, this time," letting the tone of his voice tell Hutch what 'this time' meant.Having sex by touch alone is a fun game and these two are the masters of it. When one of your senses is blocked off, the others become heightened. Makes the sexual experience more concentrated, too. Out of Sight

Fandom: STARSKY AND HUTCH Pairing: Starsky/Hutch Why this must be read: Starsky's telling Hutch a fairy tale, except it's his own version of a classic fairy tale. Actually, a whole lotta classic fairy tales. "OH!" SHE SAYS! ... "I wish I had a little baby with my red blood, and skin as white as snow, and hair as bright as the sunshine."
And she did. A little boy. They named him Blondilocks.
[They did not. That's too cruel.]
He preferred to be called Ken. And, um, at his christening—
[Before he had any say in the matter, obviously. ...Hey, where are you going?]
(Get a beer, turn on the game. You're tellin' the story, so you don't need me .... What are you doin' outta bed? And your legs all noodle-y ... after you had to show off, marathon walking all over the airport. You call me a moron. Get on back in, that's right, sheesh—didn't you listen to the lady doctor?) But it's what comes between the story that really tells us what's going on. Alot of insight into who Starsky and Hutch are and have been and will be. It's love and caring and joy and hope and the promise of forever. It's a fairy tale that they're making come true. Blondilocks
