12:20 am The Library Series by Sealie (PG-15)
Fandom: THE SENTINEL
Pairing: none
Author on LJ:
Author Website: Sibilant Storybook
Why this must be read:

Today, I've decide to recommend something from the horror genre. Not too many authors get into this field in TS world but when they do, look out. Case in point are stories by Martha and Kikkimax. However, the one I chose to recommend is a series by Sealie called the Library series. It is a crossover with Poltergeist: the Legacy, but mostly to provide a character that Jim and Blair could turn to when they come across the supernatural.

And do they ever...

The two meet and battle vampires, demons, brownies, and, of course, spirits. Blair tries to understand it all as an anthropologist and Jim tries to approach the situation like he would with any perp breaking the law in his city. What they seem to have the hardest time accepting is their roles in this supernatural world as Sentinel and Shaman. This is an excerpt from "Watchman Hand and Watchman Eye":

Blair scratched at the bandage on the side of his head. Jim shifted his grip to stop him peeling off the large dressing.

“Did they shave my head, Jim?” he asked pitifully.

“No,” Jim lied; they had removed a chunk of curls just over his ear. “What do I do to stop the wind demon?”

“Aha ha!” Abruptly distracted from their conversation, Blair waved a finger at the corner of the room and then said, sing-song, “There it is. I can see you. Go away. You can’t have him!”

Jim spun, pulling out his Sig Sauer with supernatural speed. There was nothing to aim at, just the angle where two walls met.

“Chief, get behind me.” He felt Blair struggle off the bed then twist his fists in the back of his jacket to stay upright.

“I can see it, Jim,” he said, insanity tingeing his voice with stress fractures.

“I can’t. What does it look like?”

“A billowy black cloud. It’s seething. Hey, man, I can see something you can’t. Isn’t that cool?”

“Blair,” Jim said firmly, deliberately using his given name, “what did your books say about getting rid of this thing?”

Blair peered around Jim’s shoulder. “I think I’m supposed to hit you with the Qur’an. Or beat a drum and say spells hidden in poems or… I can’t remember.”

“Great,” Jim grated sarcastically. The nurse was going to come back any second and be greeted with a pretty picture.

“Sorry, man.” Blair patted Jim’s shoulder. “I don’t think shooting it’s going to do anything.”

So late at night (like right now), when you want to read some good horror stories, try these.

02:43 am Wetwork by Destina (R)
Fandom: SMALLVILLE
Pairing: Clark Kent/Lex Luthor
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] destina
Author Website: The Fan Fiction of Destina Fortunato
Why this must be read:

The story starts like this:

Associated Press - Metropolis, Kansas
March 21, 2016

Presidential candidate Lex Luthor was shot by an unknown assailant outside his LexCorp offices in Metropolis last night. He was pronounced dead at Metropolis General Hospital at five minutes past midnight. --

Then goes back in time and fills in the blanks. It's funny and nerve-wracking with an interesting style that keeps you intrigued the whole way through.

02:16 pm Even After the Thrill of Living is Gone by indie (PG)
Fandom: STARGATE SG1
Pairing: mini!Sam/mini!Jack
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] indiefic
Author Website: The Socio-political Nerd
Why this must be read: After Fragile Balance aired, some fans took to the idea that Jack wasn't the only SG member who was cloned as a teenager. In this story, indie shows us the difficulties a cloned Sam and Jack might face as they adjust to life in high school and, more importantly, to the fact that regardless of their (adult) memories, they are once again teenagers. Well-written and insightful, indie's characterisations are lovely and realistic.

I'll be driving the LOTRiPS van this month. I mostly read Monaboyd fic with a dash of Orlijah.
