With our special, slashy twist, naturally *g* I love her Napoleon and her Illya – I trust them to be, well, themselves, despite all the quirky situations they land themselves in. The details are clear and fresh, making the scenes real. In this story, a coda to the Master’s Touch Affair, we see a hurt Illya, rescued by – who else? – Napoleon. Di’s Illya is the master of understatement, but here he is so rattled that unintended, revealing words slip out. Also, Illya here is very himself in his efforts to appear fine and unflappable, but underneath it all he is insecure and doubting. So what happens when Napoleon has a ‘little’ problem? Read and see! Fandom: DUE SOUTH Pairing: Mentions Fraser/Victoria, Fraser/Frannie Author on LJ: truwestAuthor Website: Author's SW ficWhy this must be read:The Deal ends with Frannie in a beaten up Fraser's apartment wearing very little, and Heaven and Earth sees neither of them exactly forthcoming as to precisely what happened. This fic tells Fraser's side of what happened that evening, where in fending off Frannie's attentions he finds himself telling the story of Victoria and Fortitude Pass. It works with the contrast of Fraser's words to Francesca - much calmer than the emotions that the memory of Victoria still evokes in Fraser. His injuries make a deft contrast with Fraser's painful memories and regrets. This is a lonely Fraser fragile enough to be blown away by the whirlwind of Victoria. Fandom: STAR WARS OT Pairing: Gen Length: 2,500 words Author on LJ: pyxelleAuthor Website: Pyxelle, Pyxelle's Fanfiction.net ProfileWhy this must be read: I seem to be reccing a lot of fics this month that deal with the complicated relationships between masters and apprentices: Dooku and Qui-Gon, Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan, and Obi-Wan and Anakin. Now I have Obi-Wan (aka Old Ben) and Luke. Obi-Wan had precious little time to train Luke. After taking years to train the father, he had only a few days at most with the son. As he and Luke converse on the trip to Alderaan, Obi-Wan's thoughts drift back to a particular lesson he taught Anakin -- the value of keeping the high ground. This is a short fic, and it fits nicely into canon continuity. Obi-Wan's words to Anakin just before he cut off Anakin's remaining limbs gain more significance after reading this story. This fic is mostly Obi-Wan-focused, and Obi-Wan's voice is especially accurate. He blames himself for Anakin's fall, and he manages to conceal and reveal a great deal of information all at the same time in his conversation with Luke.
