12:12 am Lonely Sea and the Sky (The Repose of Rivers Remix) by Hossgal (PG)
Hi, PDX here, I'll be driving the Van for the month of January 2007. First of all...more Farscape is always a good thing! Secondly...if you're looking for in-depth, analytical reasons why these stories must be read, I'm sorry to disappoint you. I like what I like; mostly it's just a gut reaction. Finally...please do remember to feed the authors, I know they like it.

So, find something to hang on to, here we go.

Fandom: FARSCAPE
Pairing: n/a
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] hossgal
Author Website: Hossgal's Fanfic LJ
Why this must be read:

When I saw the warning that said "poetry" I almost clicked out of it. Not that I don't like poetry, but, I didn't see how it could be very Farscapian, if that makes any sense. Well, this just stunned me. It's so breathtakingly beautiful in every way. I am at a loss for words to adequately describe the power this writing has. The imagery is so vivid, and every word is perfectly placed. It features original characters, but still captures the spirit of the Farscape 'verse.

This was written for the 2006 Remix Redux as a remix of [livejournal.com profile] thassalia's Mare Tranquilus which is one of my favorite Farscape stories and has already been recced.

09:53 am Worth and Value by Chevauchee (G)
Fandom: DC COMICS
Pairing: none. Features Tim and Cass (Robin III and Batgirl III).
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] chevauchee
Author Website: http://chevauchee.livejournal.com
Why this must be read:
Tim never ever says most of what he thinks; fortunately, Cass can hear it anyway. This is a quiet, lovely story about communication between Batkinder, with exceptionally good work on their voices.

Excerpt: Tim notices the beginning of a cobweb in the northeast corner of his room. "If you knew I was going to ask, why didn't you just make yourself at home?"

"You hadn't agreed with yourself yet."

Fandom: LOTRIPS
Pairing: Billy Boyd/Dominic Monaghan
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] ripsgirl
Author Website: Fic index (lj memories)
Why this must be read:

Python and fluffy Monaboyd smut - what more can a girl ask for? It's witty without being hard to understand, and entirely enjoyable.

03:52 pm In Curves, Not Angles by Casira (NC-17)
Fandom: HARRY POTTER
Pairing: James/Lily, Sirius/Remus
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] casirafics
Author Website: Author's page on Skyhawke
Why this must be read:

In Curves, Not Angles is a funny, painful, brilliant little bodyswap that says so much about the Marauders after they left school; the friends you'd die for and the friends-of-friends you barely tolerate, and what happens when those lines get blurred.

"Well, excuse me!" Lily's voice burst out. "I'm not used to hips and tits and four pounds' worth of baby--"

Blood roared in James' ears, in a sudden rush of panic. The baby. Lily's baby. His baby.

Lily, pregnant -- and Sirius was driving.

"Make him walk carefully," James demanded. He caught his breath -- and then some weird thread of logic made him finish, "And don't let him wear your heels!"

Without saying goodbye, he slammed down the phone and ran for the fireplace.

08:44 pm Aurora Borealis By Occula (PG-13)
Fandom: U2
Pairing: Bono/The Edge
Author on LJ: [personal profile] occula
Author Website: Loveisblindness.net U2 slash fandom website
Why this must be read: Heart-wrenching is the word I would use. Painfully amazing, with her usage of words and descriptions, and she develops the characaters fully to what is known about them. It captures awkwardness, even among friends when something is different and something must be done.
