01:44 am Last Memory of Sunnydale by Fia Reynne (NC-17)
Fandom: BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER
Pairing: Buffy/Xander
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] fiareynne
Author Website: http://www.whedonism.org (currently down for repairs)
Why this must be read: Joss Whedon's characters all have very distinct voices, and no one I've read is as capable of nailing every single one of them as well as Fia does. Especially Xander's unique voice. Reading this piece, you can feel the urgency in the atmosphere prior to the events in the series finale, and Buffy's regret that she and Xander never 'happened.' This encounter between two best friends who really believe that they're not going to make it out of this apocalypse gives them both hope and promise for the future, if there is to be one.

02:05 am "UNCLE Comes To Mayberry" by Nataliya (G)

Fandom: MAN FROM UNCLE
Pairing: Gen
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] cousinnat
Author Website: much of her work is on http://file40.net/

So here I am, back for another month.  Would you believe I was nervous that all the good stories have been recommended already? So I started a database of Man From UNCLE stories on the web in order to see what is out there. I haven't looked at the big archive sites yet like Chrome and GunMetal, File 40 and  others and I've already indexed over 500 stories!

I thought I'd start with something light this month. It's a cross-over in which Napoleon and Illya are helped by Sheriff Andy Taylor with the noble "assistance" of Barney Fife.

Why this must be read:
Nataliya gets the Mayberry cast just right, and fits Illya and Napoleon into the scene without the two of them ever breaking character.  Even more impressive to me, she keeps the story serious. It never turns into a farce or parody, but remains a loving homage to a show of our youth.

09:33 am Thirty Minutes Or Less by Christina K (PG)
Hello. This is my first time driving the van for Smallville. I hope to bring you gentle readers some stories you might not have heard or seen before. A smile to your face and a tear in your eye.

Let begin with a smile.

Fandom: SMALLVILLE (with a hint of JLA)
Pairing: Clark/Lex (gen)
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] butterflykiki
Author Website: It looks like she only ever wrote one SV story.>
Why this must be read: When you ask for a "crack fic", this story is the definition of one (without the hot sex).

Its Lex Luthor drunk dialing Superman for a pizza. How much more crack can you get?

12:01 pm Quem Di Diligunt, Adolescens Moritur (only the good die young) by Causticquery (PG-16)
Hey, it's me again!

This time around I'm reccing NCIS. Hope you aren't bored with me yet!

Fandom: NCIS
Genre: slash (Leroy Jethro Gibbs/ Donald "Ducky" Mallard)
Author LJ: [livejournal.com profile] causticquery
Author website: I know she has one... but I forgot...

This is such a beautiful story, written before Hiatus part 1 and 2, stating that Shannon and Kelly Gibbs died in a ‘simple’ car crash, with Shannon being dead immediately and little Kelly hanging on to her life so her daddy could come over from Kuwait on compassionate leave.

This story deals with the loss of a relationship as lovers (Gibbs/Ducky), the loss of a family (Shannon and Kelly), the problems Gibbs had with Shannon and the mending of an old relationship as friends.

Not only is this story moving, it’s also very painful for both sides (Gibbs and Ducky).

Causticquery is someone who knows how to balance emotions very well, she can easily swing from writing sweet (no fluff) to the darker emotions of people. Emotions, that are better left in the dark, usually, but she writes them bareable, truthfully and makes you believe in these emotions without writing the characters totally out of character.

04:33 pm Half Of Heaven, by Renny Ramos (R)
Hi, I'm [livejournal.com profile] jenoofer and I'll be your Due South driver for February. I'll admit, I'm a rabid Ray Vecchio fangirl with an urge to pimp some good F/V, but I promise there'll be other recs this month if that's not to your taste.

Fandom: Due South
Pairing: Fraser/Vecchio, Vecchio/OFC
Author on LJ: unknown

Why this story must be read: This story meets at least three of my kinks - hand-holding, (seemingly) unrequited love and a liberal dash of heartbreak. Vecchio bringing a picnic to Fraser’s office is a lovely bonus. It's the only story I've found by Renny Ramos (hence the lack of an author website link) and that makes me more than a little sad.

05:59 pm King Arthur overview for February 2007
Hi. Let's try this again since I now have a basic understanding of how most normal things work. *headdesk* Sorry. It's been a weird week for me - I'm not normally this slow.

I'm Ashley. I'm going to be driving one of the small fandom vans this month. The fandom I'm currently squeeing over (and have been for quite some time) is King Arthur, the film that was released in the summer of '04, starring Clive Owen.

Here's my Overview - and I shall cut it since it's long, and them's the rules.

07:27 pm The Englishman by Meg Tipper (PG-13)
Hi all, I'm [livejournal.com profile] siluria and I'll be driving the Magnificent Seven van this month. I've read a lot, written a little, and found the Mag7 fandom to be one you can get immersed and lost in quite easily. The show is about old west peacekeepers, seven very different men thrown together to protect a town - as the tag line to the show goes "Seven Men. One Destiny." Mag7 is also a fandom that loves its AU's. I don't think I've come across a fandom that's quite so diverse and accepting as this one – anything goes :) My rec's this month will cover gen, slash, old west (OW), and AU's, although they will lean a little preferably towards my favourite character Ezra Standish - the bad boy gambler trying to be good.

Fandom: THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN
Pairing: None
Author on LJ: Unknown
Author Website: Standish Tavern
Why this must be read:

I wanted to start with a fic that sums up what I love about the show. Meg is a very good storyteller, and was one of the first authors I came across when I started reading Mag7 fanfic. The Englishman is an Old West story that reads like an episode. There's some wonderful dialogue, great moments between characters, and that underlying stalwart of good vs evil. It's one of those fics I tend to direct people towards if they want to get a feel for Mag7 fanfic.

Go forth and enjoy :)

08:30 pm Skinning Schrodinger's Cat by lyra_wing (NC-17)
Greetings!

[livejournal.com profile] gloryliberty here, and I'll be running the van for Supernatural this month! If my fic memories are any indication of what I enjoy, then there might be plenty of Wincest thrown around. I will do my best to represent both slash and het, 'cause let's face it... the het's hot too. ;)

Fandom: SUPERNATURAL
Pairing: Sam/Dean
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] lyra_wing
Author Website: Journal Memories
Why this must be read: Time travelling Sammy! This fandom has opened up my eyes to a lot of different parings: genderswitch, incest... take your pick. Lyra here did something really nifty here... turning the younger brother into the older.

That's hot.

Hiya. I'm Ashley, like I said, and I present my first rec for the King Arthur fandom for February.

I'm a slash fan, so most of my recs will be slash fics. However, I will rec some gen stuff too.

And away we go!

Fandom: KING ARTHUR (film version 2004)
Pairing: Arthur/Lancelot
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] amari_z
Author Website: Amari tags most of her work so it's easy to find.
Why this must be read: I discovered [livejournal.com profile] amari_z through [livejournal.com profile] knightgasm, which is a KA comm here on LJ. She's a prolific, plotty, prose-driven writer who has one of the best Lancelot voices I've ever read. She's a tad mean to Arthur for my taste *laughs* but as he's my primary muse I'm afraid I'm a bit biased.

We're a small fandom so it's really interesting to me to see the different takes on the different knights - but Arthur generally has one defining characteristic that everyone picks up on - and that's guilt. The man would drop dead of a heart attack if he ever dared to do something for himself or to make himself happy for purely selfish reasons. Why Lancelot put up with him for so long I'll never figure out.

This is a small AU ficlet but it's very telling of Amari's style and of the way the fandom sees Arthur and Lancelot's relationship in general. The slashing of these two is probably the most popular pair in the fandom and I think this fic is an excellent first way to share that idea with y'all.

Amari doesn't use traditional ratings so I've guessed at an R for this. It does have descriptive slash in it.
