Fandom: West Wing
Pairing: CJ/Toby/Sam
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] raedbard
Author Website: ex urbe
Why this must be read: This is an absolutely stunning threesome fic, made even more wonderful because of the moments of CJ/Toby, Toby/Sam and Sam/CJ. The language is lyrical and heartbreakingly beautiful. This is my favorite West Wing threesome, and [livejournal.com profile] raedbard more than does it justice. She makes it impossible not to love the three of them together. Go read it!

03:38 pm A Delicate Balance by ~delle (R)
Fandom: LFN
Pairing: Nikita/Michael
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] delle
Why this must be read:

This is a longer, beautifully plotted 'mission' story, written about mid-way through the original run, but set ahead in time in the canon universe. Because the focus is the mission, nothing about the world is truly out of place, but readers who know how the series played out might detect a few differences between what ~delle guessed might happen, and what TPTB gave us. The story has the perfect mix of mystery, section-style intrigue and action, blended with just the right amount of development of Michael and Nikita's ongoing and painfully intense and challenging romance.

This is one of my early favorites. ~delle has a fantastic touch with the darkness of the world of Section, and the ways this affects the lives of those trapped within it, but without bleeding over into either either angst or nihilism, a delicate balance indeed!

Fandom: KING ARTHUR (2004)
Pairing: Arthur/Lancelot
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] dea_liberty or [livejournal.com profile] tigers_prowl
Author Website: [livejournal.com profile] tigers_prowl
Why this must be read: Although Dea writes mostly in the Supernatural fandom now, she was the first person that I ever wrote slash with in the King Arthur universe.

She's young and very, very talented. She was one of the more actively posting writers in this fandom, and I'd never read slash that was so poetic and poignant and absolutely something that will suck you in and grab a hold of your throat only to never let you go until her stories have wrung the life out of you.

I'd never read stories written about men who were still men but loved strongly and with every breath in their bodies. Her Arthur and Lancelot are almost like Romeo and Juliet to me - fighting as long as they can against the constraints of their situation, until reality intervenes and crushes them.

I'm an h/c addict, can you tell? *laughs*

Here is Sign, Symbol, Token, a multi part fic that was written originally for a challenge issued on the King Arthur group I run.

Footsteps on the battlements - and he recognises them before the voice he's come to know so well has even called his name.

Lancelot. The young boy who'd grown up to be his best knight - one he'd have to inevitably send out because of the orders (had the most chance of coming back - but so small Arthur can't even imagine it) - and the one he doesn't want to lose the most. He hates the fact that he's come to care for this one particular knight more than the others - his second in command, in friendship - but he knows he can't deny it; to lose Lancelot would be like losing his soul.

And the other man doesn't even know it.

Fandom: THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN
Pairing: pre-Ezra/Chris
Author on LJ: Unknown
Author Website: Cobalts7
Why this must be read:

This is one slash fic that made me turn around and shamelessly beg the author for a sequel, and they quite rightly turned around and said no. It stands as it is, a big tease to make you want to know more, make you want to imagine more. In this fic, the boys are back in their ATF guise, but Chris is still putting together his team and needs the final piece, an undercover agent. Chris's reaction to the man he wants for the job, catches him a little off guard.

11:17 pm Secrets, by Cara Chapel (NC-17)
Fandom: Due South
Pairing: Fraser/Vecchio
Author's website: A selection of stories archived here

Why this must be read: I had to check through the memories three times to be absolutely certain that this story hadn't been rec'd before. I was positive that it would have been, because it is that damn good. Another genderfuck story, this time with Vecchio being the one who gets switched. A believable (as much as genderfuck can be) transition, in that he's not suddenly gorgeous or PMS-ing or craving chocolate. Vecchio has to deal with being a lanky, unfeminine woman with shaved hair and that nose, and still somehow the romantic aspects of the story are enough to make the reader swoon.
