06:46 am Sex on a Desk, by Eliyes (NC-17)
Fandom: DC COMICS
Pairing: Ted Kord/Michael Jon Carter (Blue Beetle II/Booster Gold)
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] eliyes
Author Website: Eliyes's fic on LJ
Why this must be read:

Well, the title pretty much says it all.

But hey, if you need more reason than Ted and Booster having really hot sex on Ted's work desk, then there's always the banter, and the friendship, and the touches of realism, and the little nods to continuity.

Did I mention the sex on a desk?

Fandom: Due South
Pairing: Fraser/Vecchio
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] china_shop
Author Website: Stone Soup

Why this must be read:

Because it's china_shop, for one thing. If you need more than that, how about because this story takes a few key moments in canon and weaves a gorgeous tapestry around them, pulling together all the complicated threads of Vecchio's feelings for Fraser in a wry, occasionally heart-wrenching, and completely satisfying way. China_shop's Vecchio POV is outstanding, and her understanding of the character is even better—this fic contains one of the best summations I've ever read of Vecchio's relationship with Fraser in S1. And it's funny, and sweet, and clever, and there's fabulous Frannie, and I've probably read this a dozen times and I smile and ache and swoon every time. If you haven't read it, you owe it to yourself.

Why this must be read:
My crossover rec was gen, and I have a couple more gen recs to make to begin my HP tour (sorry for the late start). This Founders story, which I've rec'd in my journal but not here in [livejournal.com profile] crack_van, is fantastic.

The Rowena Ravenclaw in this story is real, and the author brings all the founders to life, touching on the friendship between them, the great purpose they chose in building Hogwarts, and the pain of the division between them. This piece is hauntingly lovely, and it's one of my favorites in the HP fandom. I'm very surprised that it hasn't been mentioned here before now.

Fandom: HARRY POTTER

Why this must be read:
This character study/slice-of-life story made me feel light and happy inside, and it's the sort of gen I crave, giving me what canon doesn't. Beth does Snape just right, but she also shows us Sprout, Flitwick, and McGonagall in their private lives.

Fandom: TORCHWOOD
Pairing: mentions of Jack/Ianto and brief Jack/Toshiko
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] poisontaster
Author Website: Poisontaster's LJ memories
Why this must be read:

In the episode "Captain Jack Harkness" Jack and Toshiko are briefly trapped in the middle of WWII. Naturally, by the end of the episode they're returned to their own time. [livejournal.com profile] poisontaster uses this story to examine what might have happened if they hadn't. This story, I discovered after my first round of reccing TW for the comm and it was just pitch perfect so I kept it for the second time around. It's just one of those you can't miss stories.
