Title: The Room with a Computer Pairing: No pairings. A true ensemble piece for HP, but for X-Men, Cyclops is primary, although other X-Men will appear. Author on LJ: minisinoo Author Website: The Medicine WheelWhy this must be read:I am not usually a huge fan of crossovers, but anyone familiar with Minisinoo's work will understand why I had NO hesitations at all when I opened one of her stories. And I have to admit, I'm glad I did. It has changed my opninion on crossovers! This single story blends two worlds and fandoms together seamlessly. What I love about it is that it is a unifying of both backgrounds/histories and it does so without downplaying the importance of either. All of the characters maintain their essence, but are open to and receive the other characters, their stories, their backgrounds with ease. Even more importantly, in my opinion, neither story has to change to accept the other's presence. Beautifully told and written, it would be a real loss to not have read this, if you are a fan of either fandom. And if you belong to both camps, than this is fic gold. Go! Read. Love. Author's Summary: Hogwarts has a new professor of Muggle studies -- who happens to be a Muggle. McGonagall is skeptical, Hermione is curious, Ron is jealous, Ginny is impressed, and Harry has questions. Arthur Weasley finally gets a plane ride. ( Excerpt )The Room with a Computer

Title: The Compassion Trap, by Gil Hale Pairing: none Author on LJ: N/A Author Website: Gil Hale's Literary LeafletsWhy this must be read:I love cross-overs. While the Old West Magnificent Seven has limited cross-over opportunities, I'm surprised there aren't more using the ATF AU, which has great potential to connect with other crime-solving fandoms, or another of the many Magnificent Seven open AU's. But there are a few excellent ones out there, and Gil Hale writes some of the best. Thirteen year old Blair Sandburg, temporarily misplaced on the streets of Denver by his mother, was taken under the wing of Vin Tanner, another homeless boy. Together they brought the authorities down on a psychotic psychologist who carried out his mind control experiments on helpless children.
Fifteen years later a disturbing chance encounter causes Blair to search out Vin again and reveals the doctor they thought died in a fire was instead recruited by the CIA for his manipulative skills. When Vin and Blair fall into the doctor's hands, Chris Larabee and Jim Ellison, with help from Ezra, join forces to track them down. It proves to be even harder than they imagined.
Gil Hale excels at twisty, action-packed stories. Enjoy!
The sequel, Demolition Men, accomplishes the remarkable feat of being edge-of-your-seat exciting on first read, and hilarious in retrospect.

Title: Pain and Magic by Violet Pairing: None (slashy according to the author, but IMO only if you squint very hard) Author on LJ: violet_quillAuthor Website: shy-violet.netWhy this must be read:This story has the two crankiest characters of all time, and surprisingly, they don't spontaneously combust when they come into contact. In this crossover, Snape is House's latest patient. The Ducklings think he's crazy, claiming to be a wizard, but House is curious enough to work the case. I like the way the characters seem canon-like, and the scenes play out like a episode of House. If you like Snape, or you like the television show, read this story--you'll enjoy it. Fandom: TOUR OF DUTY Pairing: Sergeant Zeke Anderson/Lieutenant Myron Goldman Author: Kallie vidsalotAuthor Website: Notes From the UndergroundWhy this is a must read: It’s been brought to Sergeant Anderson’s attention by Specialist Hockenbury, the unit medic, that Lieutenant Goldman is getting a bit reckless. It’s nothing that Zeke isn’t aware of, but what to do about it is something else entirely. This is a great “first time” story that really brings out Goldman’s “all or nothing” personality and Anderson’s need to protect and love him. Added to that are Francis “Doc” Hockenbury’s observations, making this a really wonderful read. As soon as the skids of the chopper touched down Myron was out and gone. Zeke swore under his breath at the LT's rapidly disappearing back. The man was halfway across the compound before the sergeant had a chance to call out and confront him. The vanishing act shouldn't have surprised him. Myron wasn't one to talk things over without a good sulk. They needed to talk before the boy got himself killed. That much was obvious. The sergeant squinted into the afternoon sun and weighed his options.
"He sure is a complicated piece of work."
Turning at the words, Zeke was surprised to see Hockenbury standing beside him, smoking a cigarette, watching him watch the LT's back. Zeke stayed quiet, unsure if he should agree with Doc or defend Myron's honor. He was discreet about his lust, his obsession, his love for Myron. Inwardly, he cringed at the depth of his pathetic need and fervently hoped Hockenbury wasn't as intuitive as the LT had suggested. Reckless by Kallie and Morgan

Title: On the Outside by Killa Pairing: None Author on LJ: killabeezAuthor Website: Killa's Adventures in MelodramaWhy this must be read: Highlander and The Matrix have some key elements in common. Most obviously, there is the focus on The One. The issues of trust, faith, betrayal and survival also figure prominently. Killa deftly put together Duncan MacLeod and Trinity in a tiny story about trust, faith, betrayal, survival and The One, and also hacking. On the Outside

Title: As You Should Be Pairing: Mikey/Pete, Gerard/Patrick Author on LJ: marigoldeAuthor Website: n/a Why this must be read: This is an AU, and its premise is very simple: Mikey joins FOB instead of MCR, and he and Gerard don't talk for three years. When the bands end up on Warped together, Gerard becomes friends with Patrick. This fic is funny and romantic and sweet and silly, all at different times. ( Excerpt )As You Should Be

Fandom: POPSLASH/GUNDAM WING CROSSOVER Title: 5 x 5 Pairings: Chris/Duo, Heero/Trowa/JC, Joey/Kelly, Justin/Britney, AJ/Wufei, Quatre/Dorothy Author on LJ: arsenicjadeAuthor Website: Most Dangerous PoisonWhy this must be read: A post by someone on my flist got me feeling in a nostalgic mood and I went and re-read this unusual crossover story in which the Gundam pilots get a new job as bodyguards to Nsync. With her usual quiet competence Arsenic manages to bring these two very different worlds together and make it work. It's got some action, a little romance and a little angst, and a bit of snark and bantering. All in all a nicely entertaining story. ( Excerpt )5 x 5

Title: When She Smiles Pairing: Dr. Who/Abby Sciuto Author on LJ: azarsuerte Author Website: Probable Impossibilities
Why this must be read:
Dr. Who has company. To entertain her, he takes her for a ride in the TARDIS, back to early America.
It was humans like Abby Sciuto that kept bringing him back to Earth. Humans like her who were the reason the species continued to survive and thrive despite being witness to some of the worst atrocities in any universe.
But this being Abby, she just can't watch something like the Boston Tea Party. She has to be in the middle of it.
"This is so cool," Abby gushed, hopping up and down on the balls of her feet to try to catch a better glimpse of the goings-on. Around them, a few people stopped to stare at the colloquialism, then frown and attempt with varying degrees of subtlety to draw back as if in order not to be tainted by association.
You'll have to read the story to learn what happens. :)
