And like the professional he is, he does what he's told. The merchandise, however, turns out to be Samantha, Agent Mulder's long lost sister - not one of the many clones, but the real thing: a battered young woman who's seen too little of life and far too much of living hell, and who reminds Alex uncomfortably of the man he shouldn't love. Suddenly he finds himself having to decide what her future should be, what fate for her would best serve not only the brother obsessed with finding her, but also the cause of humanity's survival. It's not a responsibility he wants, but it's one he's forced to deal with. I was never happy with how the Samantha storyline was handled on the show, which is why it's a delight to read fic like this, where it's used to beautiful effect. And I greatly admire the way Sleeps With Coyotes manages to make Krycek's interaction with Samantha thoroughly adorable, without making him anything less than the lethal man he is. Now Sergeant Anderson and a very sick Lieutenant Goldman are trying to keep ahead of the Viet Cong as they try to make it to the LZ (landing zone) for their ride home. The odds are stacked against them with Myron having been stung by a scorpion, the loss of the radio and time running out fast for the pair. Snowy fills in the empty places here that were never shown in the episode as the two race through the unforgiving jungle of Vietnam. It's a wonderful look at the friendship that is Zeke and Myron and how neither will give up on the other, or leave the other behind. "I hate bugs." Myron’s voice was hoarse, shaky. He wiped his mouth on the shoulder of the jacket and struggled to his knees.
"Well, in that case, Sir, I'd have to say ya kinda picked the wrong country to make a career in."
"I hate spiders," Goldman managed to get his feet under him, swatting at Anderson’s hands. "And ants, and mosquitoes, and flies and rats and fleas." He paused to take a breath, "And leeches."
"Technically speaking, LT, rats ain't bugs." Anderson’s hand still hovered under Myron’s elbow.
"Still hate 'em." Myron’s voice was slightly slurred. "And I definitely hate scorpions."
"Then by all means, let's not forget snakes."

Fandom: THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN Pairing: none Author on LJ: auburnnothennaAuthor Website: AllusionsWhy this must be read:A casual, seemingly cost-free good deed, done even before Ezra arrived in Four Corners, comes back to send ripples of change through the relationships between the Seven, brings Maude to town for another competition with her son, and stirs up painful memories. All of the Seven are featured, especially Ezra and Vin, but it's particularly hard on Nathan.
Auburn weaves a fascinating, bittersweet tale, full of insight, and told in prose as elegant and honeyed as Ezra himself. It goes down smooth and haunts the soul for a long time after.

Why this must be read:
This story, set right after "Honor Code," is a beuatiful examination of Tim's feelings for Abby. It's romantic and you can't help but hope that things work out for him. It's written from Tim's POV.
Lying there so peacefully, skin as white as snow framed by hair black as ebony, with lips red as a rose, it strikes me that she looks just like Snow White, the beautiful fairy tale princess. I chuckle quietly at the craziness of the analogy. Abby's about as far as one can get from a Disney character,

After all, who hasn't had this fight? Here, House and Wilson force each other to try out each other's music, and the resulting story is light, charming, and amusing. It began, as most things do, with a drum solo. Ten minutes into the song, Wilson joined House on the newly constructed balcony. “What is this, and will it be over soon?”
“Iron Butterfly, and no.” The piece of architecture connecting their offices had been finished the previous day around two, and House couldn’t think of a better way to begin its life than with heavy metal.

Scott Summers, mutant, blind, has to learn to see beyond the masks that people wear and learn that even those you have to trust are sometimes not those you want to trust, or can trust. This is an excellent prequel to the X-Men Movieverse. ion_bond's writing is sharp and vivid and she really enables her readers to see, or not see, through Scott's eyes as he takes this very educational field trip.
