Title: ColorsAuthor: AnarossFandom: Firefly/Buffy the Vampire Slayer Pairing: Spike/Zoe Washburn (mentions Spike/Buffy and Zoe/Wash) Author on LJ: None that I know of Author Website: Here at Just Rewards Why this must be read: Anytime you put someone from a show that is set in this time into the Firefly universe you have to tread very carefully. When I initially came across this story I was willing to buy that Spike might have survived to five hundred years in the future. But that's not the case here. I won't spoil how he gets there, but he arrives after the events of the movie and fits in really well. Spike is hurting, as is Zoe and they form an unusual bond. Now I love Zoe/Wash so it takes a superb author to make me buy her with anyone else and Anaross is that author. There are two endings, I prefer the more serious one, but keep reading for the epilogue that brings everything full circle once again. This story is everything one could hope for in a good cross over.

Fandom: Buffy the Vampire Slayer Pairing: Buffy/Xander Author on LJ: nemo_gravisAuthor Website: NemosityWhy this must be read: Nemo is one of the few of us who write Buffy/Xander and he doesn't pull his punches either. These stories are not light and fluffy. His Buffy and Xander are both flawed, and who wouldn't be after all they've been through. In the first story, Buffy meets Xander in Cairo, they get drunk and things happen. The second story is three years later and they are both still deeply affected by that night in Cairo. The second story is longer with more plot, but both are deeply insightful into the minds of Buffy and Xander. Lots of angst, lots of revelations, no shortage of sex (very explicit in places) and the possibility of future happiness. Neither of these are to be missed if you love Buffy/Xander. Fandom: SMALLVILLE Pairings: Clark Kent/Lex Luthor; Clark/Lex/Lana Lang Warnings: Hurt/Comfort Length: 23,300 Words Author on LJ: seperisAuthor Website: IndulgenceWhy this must be read: Amid the devastation and death from the meteor shower accompanying the crash-landing of a small space ship, an assemblage of good folk of Smallville gather around the little unharmed occupant. "Where is it?" Ethan's voice is hard, and Jonathan swallows, freeing himself from Nell before stepping back. Black and red stains criss-cross the soft flannel of his shirt, and her perfume clings to him over the smell of burned corn and fresh earth. He turns toward the truck, feeling a vague sense of unreality.
Behind him, he can hear Ethan draw his gun.
The creature looks up at him with huge dark eyes, uncomprehending, but reaches up with thin arms as Jonathan wraps the blanket close. Something in his chest tightens at the trust in the tiny arms that curve around his neck, but one look at Nell straightens him, and he can feel her eyes on him, dark and hard.
Men form a loose semi-circle around him as Jonathan deposits the bundle of dark hair and warm body on a blanket on the ground. He catches himself straightening it when the little body tilts over, and it gives him a slow, toothy smile, free and innocent.
Jesus. It looks so much like a real child.
"Where did you find him?" Ethan says, and Jonathan straightens, turning around.
"In the field." Even to himself, his voice sounds strangled. "There was a ship."
The low murmurs flow around him like water, and Jonathan takes a step back.
"It looks almost human," he hears Nell say in a low voice. "It--it killed--" Her voice trickles off into silence, and Jonathan finds himself watching how her face crumples again, hands shaking as she clenches them in the tails of her shirt. He's not even sure what he's doing when he wraps an arm around her shoulders, and she leans into him, her bones as thin and fragile as a bird's beneath his hand.
"Dig a hole," Ethan whispers...___________________________________ Martha Kent (although soon to divest herself of that surname and its attendant husband) is the wondrous force for survival in this engrossing story, for herself and for her little alien she's rescued from its brutal fate. More than survival - survival, in style - and those involved will find that brutal cruelty is best served with revenge as stunning in elegance as it is in subtlety. Interwoven is a love story between young Clark and young Lex as they grow from childhood friendship into something more... hot. Looking-Glass, by Jenn

Fandom: NCIS Pairing: Jethro Gibbs/Tony DiNozzo Length: both about midlength Author on LJ: sperrywinkAuthor Website:Unknown Why this must be read:I love good dialogue. I especially love dialogue that sounds true to the characters. This story has it. And it's got a good , slow build-up that seems true to characters. I love Tony's uncertainty and Gibbs' reaction to it. Classic and the sequel, Classic 2: Tony Wakes Up Questioning His Orientation

Fandom: TORCHWOOD Pairing: Jack/Ianto Length: Series, 5 parts so far Author on LJ: spiderineAuthor's Website: None listed Why this must be read:
Fannish BDSM often falls flat; it becomes all about the toys and the roles rather than about the emotional dynamic. Spiderine totally succeeds at keeping it all about the emotional dynamic for both partners, without falling into BDSM tropes or cliches. It's also, in turn, surprisingly funny and sweet. Ianto's POV is nothing short of brilliant. This is a series (and I hope, but don't know, if but each part stands alone. You can find all the parts linked here: A Close and Holy Darkness

Fandom: HARRY POTTER Pairing: James/Lily Length: short Author on LJ: musesfoolAuthor Website: AchromaticWhy this must be read: Adorable fic about James and Lily in their Hogwarts years. James is nothing but persistent, and I'm still loling over Lily and her tissues. "I don't know why you won't go out with me," James said. Lily kept walking along her favorite path along the lake. He kept following. "I'm clever, funny, and popular," he continued, counting off on his fingers.
"You forgot conceited."
"I prefer to think of it as knowing my own value."
She turned to face him, showing him two fingers of her own. "I hate you, and you're going out with Isabella Taylor."
Undaunted, he said, "Only because you haven't said yes, yet."
"And I never will." Between You and the Giant Squid

Title: An Analrapist and a Gentleman by gunderpants/there goes my gun Pairing: Remus/Tonks, Remus/Sirius Author on LJ: gunderpantsAuthor Website: list of fics, ff.net pageWhy this must be read: Sirius goes to Tobias Funke for counseling. IMO, having *anyone* go to Tobias for therapy promises to be an awesomely crack!tastic fic, which this one most definitely is. And the last line is to die for! "Sirius, I don't think you should be seeing any man who describes himself as an 'anal--'"
"It's 'analyst' and 'therapist' joined together. Don't worry, the pronunciation can be a bit worrisome."
"It's not the pronunciation I'm worried about."An Analrapist and a Gentleman
