Fandom: Bandom (My Chemical Romance) Pairing: Slight Frank/Gerard Author on lj: clumsygyrlAuthor WebsiteFic lj ficlaidbareWhy this must be read:This is a brilliantly done story that often gets overlooked. It's a fully realized urban fantasy that happens in Neu Orleans-New Orleans after a strange psychic event. Gerard, Ray and Mikey all move down there and have encounters with the not entirely human denziens. It's not a long story, but there's so much detail that the Blood Quarter seems like someplace you can go to next week. ( Read more... )Las Almas Perdidas

Fandom: SUPERNATURAL Pairing: None, Gen Length: Short Fic, one shot Author on LJ: celliAuthor Website: Fanfic 101 Page O DoomWhy this must be read: Because in the wake of the heartbreaking season finale yesterday, we all need something a little funny. In this, someone turns Dean into an accountant against his will. But even through all the cracked-out madness, he's still very much Dean: "Mr. Winchester! Hi! The sales report--it's done!"
Holly looked like a cat presenting its owner with a particularly juicy dead sparrow, Dean thought privately. He didn't say it, though; when you mocked the junior accountants for their enthusiasm, he had learned, they stopped going above and beyond, and inevitably you had to start doing your own work again. So he smiled, thanked her effusively, and waited until she left to demand of the stuffed alligator on his desk, "Who likes doing shit like this? Seriously. That girl was wired wrong."
The gator glared cock-eyed at him. He still had bits of duct tape sticking to him from the time the AP gang had taken him hostage and hung him from the cafeteria ceiling.
"You're no help," Dean said.So go read! Involuntary Conversion

Fandom: THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN Pairing: Chris Larabee/Vin Tanner Length: ~23,182 words Author on LJ: cattraineAuthor Website: Cattraine's page on the Chris Larabee Fiction Archive Why this must be read: I'm a sucker for supernatural stories in any fandom, and the Dark Moon series is one of the best I've read. Cattraine's characterization of the characters is spot on, and her Vin who has had almost no contact with humans, draws you right in. An outraged feline yowl followed by a startled, pained canine yelp snapped him out of his dour ruminations. He looked over the bay mare's back just in time to see Vin tumble backwards out of the stall, followed by an irate, fluffed out, bouncing, hissing bundle of teeth and claws. Chris fought hard to maintain a straight face and lost, as Vin scrambled to take refuge behind him, abruptly morphing into human form, one hand clamped over his scratched nose.
Grinning, Larabee wrapped a comforting arm around Tanner's shoulders. Wide, tearing blue eyes sought his. "Let me see, sweetheart." Gently he peeled the grubby hand off Vin's face, to reveal a neat row of bloody scratches across the bridge of his nose.
"What did I tell you about Ripley's kittens?" he chided gently.
"K-kitty cats!"
"That's right, kitty cats, but she doesn't like it when a big, bad wolf pokes his nose in her nest of babies."
"N-n-not bad!" Scowling, Vin struggled to voice the unfamiliar words, all righteous indignation.

Fandom: DUE SOUTH Pairing: Margaret Thactcher Length: 2,900 words Author on LJ: simplystartsAuthor Website: stars_ficWhy this must be read: Because Meg Thatcher was a shamefully wasted character and sometimes during the series you'd catch a glimpse of what she could have been, given half a chance to develop fully. simplystars is a extremely talented writer, clear and concise, understated and elegant. But like a river, there's swirls of emotion under the seemingly formal words, fast running currents of anger and despair, of life and of love. In About A Girl, simplystars shows us a what-might-have-been about Meg Thatcher, growing up a lonely, intelligent girl, taking advantage of her talents, moving up in the world. And she does it in such a way that by the end of the story, you are absolutely sure this is cannon. It's that real, and that true to what should have been Meg's character.
