Why this must be read:

It's always a beautiful day on Alderaan.

So, even after you've left the Nexxus, as Captain Kirk did in the seventh Star Trek movie Generations, some part of you--call it an afterimage--remains.  And who knows how far the Nexxus has traveled, or for how long.

This story has a wonderful premise, executed flawlessly.

12:22 am The Spot the Zebra Affair by Liza Jones (G)
Title: The Spot the Zebra Affair
Fandom: The Man From UNCLE
Pairing: gen
Author on LJ: unknown
Author Website: Unknown
Why this must be read:

The title sounds suspiciously reminiscent of a children's book, but this story is one of the most fun gen stories I've come across for some time. Ever wanted to know how good Illya is with animals other than dogs? Spot the Zebra manages to save both Napoleon and Illya - and no, this isn't crack!fic. It's a crazily but strangely believable story about each man learning to rely on whatever wits they have left after Napoleon is immobilized below the waist and Illya blinded and how much each will risk in order to protect the other at all costs. Spot nearly steals the show from both spy guys, and with good reason - she's the best animal OC I've ever read (apologies to the creepy spiders in Loretta Ross's Fuzzy Friends Affair). Not to mention that the African setting is beautifully rendered - Liza's definitely done her research. I'm almost suspicious that she's ridden a zebra half-blind just to get a sense of how Illya would've done it!
