I have been more than a bit remiss in posting recs. Sorry. Fandom: BEING HUMAN Pairing: George/Mitchell Length: Short/Medium Author on LJ: entangled_nowAuthor Website: libraryofsolWhy this must be read: Author's summary: George knows by now, the shape and smell of Mitchell without looking. One of the lovely things about Being Human is how George and Mitchell take care of each other. This is a brilliant look at an instance where George has to take care of a Mitchell who is hanging on by a thread. Corona captures the ways that George knows Mitchell beautifully and without any wasted words. ( excerpt )Blood

um. I'm on student time; to me, it's still Monday?Title: Upon A Firey Steed by Vathara Pairing: Background Quatre/Trowa, Duo/Hilde, and Wufei/Sally Length: About 80,000 words. Author on LJ: N/A (that I could find, at least) Author Website: Her ff.net profile. Why this must be read:This is a fusion of the Gundam Wing cast with the Stargate universe - but not on earth. Captured by a Goa'uld Queen, Dimme, Daniel Jackson joins forces with fellow-captive, the ever irreverant Duo Maxwell, to escape back to Duo's home system, Sanq. But it isn't that simple, because Sanq is by no means a normal Goa'uld-controlled slave planet. This is a really great twist on the Stargate universe; you don't need to know anything about Gundam Wing to read it, really, and a general knowledge of stargates and the team will be enough on the SG-1 side. Basically, it's a great adventure story that deserves a read, even if it is hosted on That Site. I should be revising right now, but a 'quick glance' to write this up has turned into re-reading the whole thing - it pulls you in. Upon A Fiery Steed

Fandom: Hot Fuzz Pairing: Nicholas/Danny Length: 2188 words Author of LJ: tawgAuthor Website: none that I know of Why this must be read: And now for something completely different. I am an unapologetic happy ending junkie and normally I would guarantee a happy ending with every recommendation I post. Can't quite do that here. Which is not to say "Twilighting" has an unhappy ending, it's simply a darker, more complex story story than I would normally put on my personal list of Best Stories I've read in this fandom. But that's how good it is. Tawg opens up a dreamscape that we enter willingly, because it is a happy, warm, glowing place filled with Danny - his sweetness, his adoration of Nicholas, his love of fantasy. We ride with him through tawg's beautiful imagery, and even if we know where we're going, we push those thoughts aside because we love Danny so much, it doesn't matter where we go, as long as we get to ride along. Fandom: PROS (THE PROFESSIONALS) Pairing: Bodie/Doyle Length: 58k Author on LJ: unknown Author Website: Gloria Lancaster at The Circuit Archive Why this must be read: Because there’s a vivid African backdrop, a separation until CI5, a gradual slide towards each other (a recurring kink with my recs, it seems:)), and a terrific Bodie. Or 'Soldier' as he’s simply known for the first half of the story. It’s actually half an AU, in that CI5 is their world in the second half, but it imagines a different first encounter between the two men. One that takes place in Africa, with Bodie as a young merc who saves the life of a volunteer (Ray Doyle), who is there on a three month sabattical. Soldier waits while he heals, and then takes him by jeep and on foot to a town where Ray can find safe passage back to England. Quite apart from this beguiling premise, Gloria Lancaster has a great ear for the way they interact, together with a subtle, humorous lyricism which suits Pros perfectly. The attacking government troops had scattered as soon as Soldier had killed a few of them. The rest legged it double quick when they caught sight of him. They think there's more of us he exulted and fired off a few rounds jubilantly. Like fish in a barrel, he scorned, then once the compound was secured, made a quick recci of the Mission compound.
He checked every one of the bodies--nothing. Then the last one; he searched the body and found the ID and the wallet. Raymond middle-initial C Doyle, English, the usual statistics. Then the corpse had coughed, rolled over and thrown up. So--alive.
Very much alive. Later events proved that. Not one complaint from him though, not about the climate, not about the conditions, not about the insects. Hard as nails this Ray Doyle, and held together with spit and temper. On Guard by Gloria Lancaster

Fandom: HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL Pairing: Chad/Ryan Length: 2,140 words Author on LJ: th_esaurusAuthor Website: Fic Masterlist (It's also worth checking out her adorable Chad/Ryan art.) Why this must be read: In the High School Musical movies, I don't especially care for Troy Bolton. I do, however, love finding fic that makes me like him. The Troy in this fic is so earnest that he totally won me over. Also, as a person who is often overwhelmed by the super-mushy romance in fic, I really enjoyed the sweet non-romance of Chad and Ryan's relationship here. As a bonus, this is one funny little story. I will warn that even though the author rated it R, it starts with a sex scene. Just in case you're sensitive to such things. ( Excerpt )Go. Read. Love. Tell the author. Fandom: CHRONO CRUSADE
Pairing: Aion/Chrono
Length:1479
Author on LJ: silver_magess
Author Website: Silverone's profile on fanfiction.net
Why this must be read: Slash is very rare in this fandom as I mentioned in the overview. The main slash pairing, Aion/Chrono, may be slightly problematic for some, since Aion and Chrono are brothers, but the dynamic between them in both manga and anime canon is intriguing, and has a lot of possibility. This manga-verse story was written for 1sentence and despite the constraints of the format, is an excellent character/relationship study between Chrono and Aion, before, during and after the events of the manga.
