10:50 am It's Not Easy Being Green (PG) by Hurricanemegan

Why this must be read:

Maybe it's an 'absence makes the heart grow fonder' thing, but there seems to be more Kevin fic around nowadays. Quite right too, given the devastatingly-handsomeness of the subject.

Anyway. This is an AU written for MTYG 2008, in which Justin is an earnest young student who works for Kirkpatrick Kars, selling ideologically sound, environmentally friendly vehicles. Kevin Richardson runs into Justin at an expo, and despite Kevin's better judgment, he can't help but follow up on the attraction.

Kevin's calm, reasonable and a little bit cynical, Justin is innocent and sincere, and Chris is the sort of person who does the sweetest things in the way that makes their beneficiaries want to kill him. Which works for me.

11:47 am And the Rest, As they Say, is History by Raina (NC-17)
Fandom: CW RPS
Pairing: Jensen/Jared
Length: 17,769
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] raina_at
Author Website: na
Why this must be read: A high quality feel-good romance! I'm pretty sure I was grinning like an idiot throughout on the second and third read-through as much I did the first time. Meaning this is a saver, to be loved and read over and over. Bottom line; settle in to enjoy a delightful, fun au with a slice of *good* schmoopy romance. Author’s summary: Struggling actor Jensen takes a job as big-shot movie star Jared Padalecki’s dogsitter. And the rest, as they say, is history.

08:53 pm Effective Communication by sotto_voice (PG-13)
Pairing: Tony Stark/Pepper Potts, Tony Stark/Jim Rhodes, Pepper Potts/Happy Hogan
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] sotto_voice
Length: approx. 4000 words
Author Website: fix index
Why this must be read:

Ostensibly movieverse but really a comics/film mashup. Tony and the most important people in Tony's life. The ways that he pulls them in, and the ways that he pushes them away, as they try hopelessy to cover him through his inevitable downward spiral. And yes, drunk!Tony. I love a spot of good drunken Tony characterisation, and this story has it in spades. Plus. War Machine.

Tony shuts off the saw and rocks back on his heels. “Okay.” He snaps his plastic mask up. “Come on, Rhodey, whatever you’re trying to say with that loveable passive-aggressive charm of yours, let’s hear it.”

Rhodes’s eyes narrow; he pushes the goggles up on his forehead. “I’m trying to say, you being sober enough to help me out today, that was chance.”

“Oh, for the love of— Once, once, a guy can’t keep a repulsor steady, and you never let him hear the end of it.”

09:30 pm Slow Dance by Shikatanai
Fandom: HARRY POTTER
Pairing: Harry Potter/ Severus Snape
Author on LJ:
[personal profile] unknown
Length: approx. 3000 words
Author Website: Shikatanai's Fics on FFnet
Why this must be read:

Anything by Shikatanai is great, and Slow Dance is one of my favorites. Her Harry and Ginny still have a great relationship even though they are not together (which is nice). She writes a great Draco and Severus, even though Severus is a little ooc.  Its a great story, with a growing relationship between Harry and Severus and Draco and Ginny along with some great humor, and some nice fights.

11:35 pm The Best Laid Plans Affair by Graculus (NC-17)
Fandom: MAN FROM U.N.C.L.E.
Pairing: Napoleon Solo/Illya Kuryakin
Length: 5,500 words
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] graculus
Author Website: The Grotto, where her MfU fic can be found here

Why this must be read:

Before Napoleon and Illya become partners, their individual careers aren't going according to plan. Nonetheless, these two young and ambitious agents are determined to succeed, and while their goals don't exactly match and their working styles definitely clash, the chemistry between them is undeniable.

And speaking of chemistry, Graculus takes these two confident and sexy men, isolates them together on a tropical island, and then liberally douses them with water. The resulting steam is guaranteed to make your toes curl.

Ultimately, The Best Laid Plans Affair demonstrates that even the best partnerships can't always be planned in advance. However, with the assistance of fate and a very sneaky Russian, everything can turn out right in the end.
