Why this must be read:

The end of Season 3 left the Barney/Robin fen squeeing in delight and asking for more. [livejournal.com profile] holy_whatever takes off from the finale, using Esquire's 75 Skills Every Man Should Master as the theme for every section. The relationship is built up slowly, the voices are just perfect and the end result is an absolute delight.

14. Chop down a tree.
She'd been on the phone with the Brooklyn Department of City Planning on and off for three days, and the conversation she had every time was the same.

"Yes, it's a beautiful tree, it's just that it blocks my view, it's directly in the path of my door, and every bird on the block lives in it. As a paying resident, don't I get any say in what's placed directly outside my building?"

Pause. "...yes, I know, ha ha, a tree that's growing in Brooklyn."

Pause. "Yes, I love trees too. No, I'm not anti-forestation."

Pause. "No, I just want to know if something can be done about it, you overreacting, overprotective tree-hugging jackass."

They usually hung up after that.

Why this must be read:

Yes, GSF can be hot.  Very, very hot.  However, me?  I want more than that.  I want to see how they make the relationships work outside of bed.  The best stories combine the two, which is what this story does very well.

Brendon, Ryan and Spencer are already in a relationship, while Jon is on the outside looking it.  Luckily, Gabe is around to listen and give him push him in the right direction.

So it was okay because Jon decided it would have to be. There were rules about bus sex, and they maybe argued a little about them, but overall things were fine. They were them and he was him, and three plus one had always worked pretty well, since they were four on stage and at meet and greets and in interviews and in almost everything else except sleeping and touching.

Of course, there are times when Brendon pulls him into their group hugs, and it's like everyone forgets Jon is not theirs to hold so tightly. Even Jon forgets.
