Fandom:STAR WARS Characters: Obi-Wan Kenobi, Anakin Skywalker Genre: Friendship (Obikin) Length: Series of six stories, app. 500 words each Author on LJ: I don't think she has one. Website: FFN profileWhy this must be read:These are short, slightly angsty stories, ranging from just post-Phantom Menace to Return of the Jedi in the timeline, yet timeless in their grasp of insecurities and coping, done respectively by Padawan and Master. The final story in this series has a spiritual touch. I'm recommending this series because it includes touches of humor, light and charming and done with very few words. The stories are arranged chronologically, as best I could figure them. Burden of Joy SwitchedListenUnwanted ThiefDoubtGood v Evil

Fandom: STARSKY & HUTCH Pairing: Starsky/Hutch Length: App. 1,700 words Author on LJ: dawnebethAuthor Website:Dawnwind's Page at Me and TheeWhy this must be read:Since this is a Christmas story, I was going to rec it on April 1st, but I didn't want anyone to think the rec was a joke. This is a finely crafted little story with sharp, wonderful dialogue, woven seamlessly with the action and descriptions to create a scene that feels more like it was shot with a camera than written. It's a lovely example of how much can be told with just a few words. For the Man Who has Everything

Fandom: MAN FROM U.N.C.L.E. Pairing: Napoleon Solo/Illya Kuryakin Length: 1,329 words Author on LJ: Unknown Author Website: Tauna’s Slashden Why this must be read:I wasn't planning to rec this tonight, but thanks to a post by one of my flist I was reminded of the rather nice outfit Illya wears in the stinking Season 3 episode "The Super Colossal Affair." Indeed, one of the only reasons worth watching the episode is "THE Pool Boy" outfit. My imagination ran riot after seeing David McCallum dressed so sexily, and thankfully Tauna has filled in the blanks *g*. I can't watch the scene in the episode without thinking of this fic now, it's burned itself into my brain forever. So this fic takes place during this episode, and refers to er...an "interlude" in the Surveillance van after Illya's undercover run as a pool boy. It's short, steamy and amazingly manages to keep the boys in character (well, in my opinon). Napoleon is very naughty, Illya loses his English. It's a lovely little filler scene, hot hot HOT! A little excerpt for you: Illya picked at the too tight, white tee shirt. It distracted Napoleon for a moment. The tight, white shirt and tight, white pants molded extremely well to Illya's taut body, showing off his smoothly muscled shoulders, trim waist and surprisingly sturdy thighs. Very little was left to the imagination.
"So, Miss La Veer was simply charmed by your conversation?" Napoleon's eyes took in the sight before them and they were pleased.
"Napoleon, she was staring at my ass," he huffed, "and you should know that no one is charmed by my conversation."
Napoleon craned his neck to look around Illya and focus on his plump bottom. He could completely understand the girl's delight in it.
"Yes, well, conversation is most definitely not your strong point." The Pool Boy Affair

Fandom: EARTHSEA Pairing: Thar/Arha-that-was, Tenar/Penthe Length: 1250 words Author on LJ: daegaerAuthor Website: LJ memoriesWhy this must be read:The second novel of the Earthsea series, The Tombs of Atuan, moves to the Kargish Empire, to introduce the main female character, Tenar. Before she became Tenar, she was the young priestess Arha, 'the Eaten One', dedicated to the ancient dark powers of the earth and believed to be eternally reincarnated in their service. The ritualistic life in the temple compound with its 'secret brangle of jealousies and miseries and small ambitions and wasted passions' is dominated by the power struggle between the new religion of the Godking, served by Kossil, and the older religions that Arha & her mentor Thar serve. In the novel, Ged arrives all too soon to stir things up, but fanfiction gives the reader the chance to linger in this all-women society. In 'The Dark of the Moon', Daegaer opens with an incident in the novel in which Kossil punishes Arha's only friend, the novice Penthe, and expands to encompass relationships past, present and future. It's a short but powerful piece. ( Excerpt under the cut )The Dark of the Moon by Daegaer
