Why this must be read: I think that the best crossovers, like the best inventions, are those that you never thought of on your own, but once you hear of them, they seem so completely obvious that you can't believe they never occurred to you before. This is so very much that kind of crossover. Of course Wednesday Addams grows up to work at Wolfram and Hart. Naturally she remembers Harmony as Amanda, the prissy little girl she'd tormented at summer camp years before. Obviously they embark on a strange journey of dating and feeding chihuahuas to piranhas. How, you find yourself wondering, can this not be canon? [livejournal.com profile] ijemanja not only weaves this crossover very deftly, but she also throws in a wonderful sense of humor to make it even more of a good read. Add to that her spot-on characterizations and excellent Wednesday and Harmony voices, and this story is simply too much fun to miss.

Why this must be read:
So the Doctor leaves Fitz in Washington DC in 2002...where he meets Tony.  That is the start of a great friendship between Tony and Fitz, with the rest of the NCIS team thrown in. Throughout the story Fitz is also dealing with his abandonment, seeing the Doctor a few times, meeting Jack, and watching Britian's alien issues by TV broadcast. As well as living in a time period not his own.  This is an amazing read!

"NCIS?" Fitz repeated slowly, staring at him.

Tony rolled his eyes. "No," he said, "it has nothing to do with CSI."

Fitz just kept staring.

"You haven't heard of CSI?" Tony asked, raising an eyebrow. "Finally, I've met somebody with some taste."

Chuckling more at the expression on Tony's face than anything else, Fitz tilted his head slightly. "NCIS?" he repeated patiently.

"Naval Criminal Investigative Service. We deal with crimes related to the Navy." Tony paused and gave Fitz a speculative look. "The United States Navy, that is."

"No, really?" Fitz asked dryly. "I thought it would be the Australian Navy. Isn't this Sydney?"

12:33 pm NCIS/Due South (PG)
Title: Crystal Balls
Pairings: Leroy Jethro Gibbs/Donald 'Ducky' Mallard. Benton Fraser/Raymond Vecchio. Abigail Sciuto/Timothy McGee (if you squint)
Length: 4,441
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] aingeal8c
Author Website: Armani And Serge: Aingeal's Due South Site

Why this must be read:

This story is a sequel to my previous crossover rec A Meeting Of Worlds and it continues her universe. Aingeal is, to my mind, one of the finest Fraser/Vecchio writers out there (and it for her Due South stories that she is well known).

As with the previous story this can be called crack!fic, but as with all of Aingeal's crack!fic stories, you don't sit there thinking 'what was she on when she wrote this'? you get caught up in her wondrous universe and the characters, even though often not human, are so very much the characters we see on the screen.

The story begins in a perfectly normal way with the NCIS team called out to a body. But it soon becomes far less than normal as Gibbs, Ducky and the team meet up again with Fraser and Ray (who just happens to be a dragon) in their world and once again have a case to solve. It may not be a 'usual' universe, but it is full of the little things that are recognisable as far as the shows and the individual characters go.

The story has all of Aingeal's trademarks (apart from crack) insofar as the banter is superb, the characterisation spot on - yes even when one is a dragon and another a duck - the mutual caring, affection, friendship and closeness that we see in both shows is clear in the story. There is humour, tenderness, casework, bickering, touches of 'will they/won't they', deep caring and superb writing. And despite the crackiness of it, it is easily visualised and heard - it could be an episode from either or both shows.

08:44 pm CROSSOVER: Fastidious by Graculus (PG)
Fandoms: MAN FROM U.N.C.L.E. / NCIS
Pairing: Napoleon Solo/Illya Kuryakin (if you squint)
Length: 1,003 words
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] graculus
Author Website: www.btinternet.com/~graculus/mfu.html

Why this must be read:
This is quite a short one again, but it's just brilliant to read. As with almost all the NCIS/UNCLE crossovers, Illya Kuryakin has become Ducky Mallard. Although he has left behind his old life and partner, bittersweet and poignant memories come back to haunt him with the discovery of an item in his home that shouldn't be there. The narrative is excellent and tells a very moving story. Read it even if you're not a fan of crossovers - this one is lovely.

Why this must be read: Because the Planet Express crew have a delivery to make to the Petrelli corporation. Yes, that makes the funny kind of sense but most of the (season 1) cast fit in so well to the 31st century that they might as well be squishily animated.

The fic is just really, really, funny. The dialogue in particular carrying a lot of humour while still keeping the characters like themselves - despite Heroes-canon more serious outlook. And the vague bits of history scattered through. Seriously, if there's a character I believe could go toe to toe with Mom or Richard Nixon's head in a jar, it's Angela Petrelli likewise.

Just - go; read, giggle, feedback.
