Fandom: STARSKY & HUTCH Pairing: none Length: long Author on LJ: not known Author Website: HEREWhy this must be read: It's an AU story with at twist in the end. If you like AU, it's a must. If you don't like them, read it all the same – the end surprises in more than one way. And what do we have there? We have a man whose name, past and destiny is unknown and who is trying to find peace of mind in his new home. Fortunately he is not alone. He finds a real friend, but will their friendship last when the past is revealed? A page for the monastic brothers rode out bearing a white flag of peace to greet our group as soon as we were mid-field before the gated walls. As the highest-ranking officer, Starski cantered forward, brandishing the banner of Kalif before him. Something within me rose with hope and pride as we watched him ride out, the blue and gold of the crown streaming above his head. Here was a man I could follow into battle, serve with my life for a cause and country we believed in. He was a man of virtue, a man of honor.

Fandom: Tour of Duty Characters: Myron Goldman/Zeke Anderson Length 3292 words author on LJ No LJ author website: Notes from the UndergroundWhy this is a must read: Based on the slashiest episode (The Road to Long Binh) of Tour of Duty, this is a fun look at the relationship of Zeke and Myron. And although it's fun, Meryn is also careful to remind everyone how dangerous it is for these two men to be in a relationship in Vietnam.
Excerpt: Myron had responded to that second kiss; it'd become desperate and deep, as if each man tried his damnedest to live a lifetime in the moments they had left. Such a simple beginning, before their miracle came through and the NVA pulled back for reasons they'd never know.
They'd both been visibly stunned on the chopper ride back to base. Zeke sat there facing the L-T, though neither of them made eye contact, not with each other or anyone else.

Fandom: BATTLESTAR GALACTICA Pairing: Zarek/Roslin, slight A/R undertones Length: 1,279 words Author on lj: swooning4a_r Author Website: Her fic archive. Why this must be read: Zarek/Roslin is one of those twisted little "guilty pleasure" ships. This well-written and in-character piece examines Tom's feelings on his relationship with Laura and his position in her government. Even if this ship isn't your cup of tea, I would give it a try. It made me a shipper. Excerpt: They worked well together.
He did everything she told him to do, and although he didn’t always do so without complaint, they both knew what the ultimate outcome would be once she gave an order. She knew he didn’t want to be booted out an airlock. He knew she and Adama were perfectly willing to flush him away if they deemed it in the best interest of the fleet; in fact, he knew that the only reason he’d avoided that treatment was Laura’s interest in keeping him on. To work for her. Her second-in-command, in title at least.
Strange, how he was as good as invisible once he’d accepted her terms and she had resumed the top office. He did her work invisibly, which was often useful to her, so at least he was being of use. A cog in the machine, which was the last role he would have ever envisioned for himself… sometimes it sickened him to realize he was good at it.
