Life conspired against me and I missed Friday Night Drive-In by a few hours, but I still wanted to rec this vid. Vidder:fan eunice Musical artist: Rod Steward Pairing: none Vidder on LJ: fan_euniceVidder's website: http://fan-eunice.com/Why this vid kicks ass: Richie was such an integral part of this series that he deserves a vid that celebrates his life. This is it, skillfully showing the development of his from a street kid to a man and not shying away from the manner of his death. Does it so well that when it was shown at the last Highlander con between Stan and Adrian's panel both the actors watch this and loved it. Foreever Young

Fandom: SMALLVILLE Pairing: Clark/Lex (barely) Length: 7,945 Author on LJ: loqia Author Website: BadficWhy this must be read: Starting where Jitters ends, this fic is told from Jonathan Kent's POV and is in second person. This is a Jonathan I can get behind 100%. His behavior is very much OoC in this fic, but the difference is explained in why he's doing it, or...at least why he's doing it at first.( Excerpt )Click to flit over to Butterfly

I haven't rec'd nearly as many fics as I wanted to this month. Life has gotten in the way, I'm afraid. I'm sorry for that. Fandom: HEROES Vidder: Wafflesnbrains Musical artist: Alicia Keys ft. Jack White Pairing: Gen - Ensemble Vidder on LJ: nowhack Vidder's website: YouTubeWhy this vid kicks ass: Nowhack has a ton of amazing Heroes vids, but I chose this one for a few reasons. First off, it's an ensemble vid, and it was that or another Mylar rec and I didn't want to do that. Second, though it takes clips from seasons 1 and 2 as well, half of the clips in this vid are from volume 3. Now, I'm not a big fan of V3, to say the least, but Nowhack makes it look good! Lastly, but perhaps most importantly, it's simply an amazing video. It showcases all of the characters really well, the music and clips fit perfectly, and all in all it's just amazing. Sadly, I couldn't find the corresponding LJ post, I'm sure there was one... somewhere. Another Way to Die

Fandom: Bandom Pairing: Bob Bryar/Patrick Stump Length: one-shot; short Author on LJ: mwestbelleAuthor Website: Fiction MasterlistWhy this must be read:I couldn't resist making this rec: Bob and Patrick together are fannish overload for me, because they are my favorite bandom dudes. (It's hard to choose, and they have hot competition, and occasionally there is an element of doubt as to this ranking when it's judged on various aspects, but yeah, I think they are the tops in my list overall.) This is set during the summer that Patrick crashed with Bob, and as first-time domestic fic, lazy and comfortable, it's sooooo goood. Go read it! Bob Bryar Is Easy (Not Like That)

Howdy folks, this is my last rec for the month. It was nice driving with you, I hope I've found a few PSYCH converts. It's a great show and a great fandom! Hopefully we'll be seeing you around in the comms. Have a Psych Out kind of day! Fandom: PSYCH Pairing: Shawn/Lassiter Length: 3,300 Author on LJ: chandra_noxAuthor Website: FanFiction TagWhy this must be read: 50 snapshots of a relationship becoming a relationship. I'm very impressed with how much information can be put into one sentence (repeated 50 times). Some of them are hilarious, some of them are telling, some of them make you want to headdesk because of the obliviousness. All the major players are here, watching (sometimes unwittingly) as Shawn and Lassy move towards Something New. Not to bias anyone, but I think #49 is my favorite, but you should go definitely go decide which snapshot(s) you like best! :D The Journey from Spencer to Shawn

Fandom: Tour of Duty Characters: Lt Myron Goldman/Sgt Zeke Anderson Length: 20411 words Author on LJ: No LJ Author Website: Notes From the Underground Why this is a must read: This story is a long, satisfying read, following a seven-episode arc throughout the latter half of second season and the beginning of third season with an epilog set after the war. Kallie does a wonderful job of interweaving missing scenes and canon scenes, all emphasizing the subtext so obvious to all slashers. Particularly enjoyable is how she contrasts the vapid relationship between Lt Goldman and self-absorbed wire service reporter Alex Devlin with the deep friendship/love he shares with Sgt Anderson. Excerpt:"Those your guys?" Alex asks, as choppers filled with my ex-platoon touch down on the landing pad.
"Not anymore." A lump immediately settles in my throat as soon as the flippant words are out of my mouth. Zeke. Zeke was 'my guy.' Not any more. I still check the choppers when 'my guys' return from a mission. I can't help myself and I can't turn it on and off like Alex does. Besides, I need to know Zeke's okay.
I'm grateful when Alex touches my shoulder in a rare show of support. She's happy. She survived her story and is leaving for Paris tomorrow morning. She's upbeat and ready for a new adventure. I can't help wondering if she'll be faithful. Listen to Your Heart

Fandom: SMALLVILLE Pairing: Lex/Bruce Wayne Length: ~250,000 words Author on LJ: rednihilist Author Website: none Why this must be read: I've labeled this NC-17 because there are a few moments in this novel-length story that earn that rating, but they very few and far between. This AU epic is set around the premise of Lionel finding baby Kal-El in the corn field instead of the Kents and how that changed things. It did not change things for the better for poor little Kal-El - or Colin in this story, Lin for short. From start to finish, this is one of the best constructed stories I've ever read. The author kept her characters consistent and believable in their behavior; she kept the story on track and didn't leave any glaring holes in her plot. The story was kept moving at a good pace and I never got the feeling of being bogged down as I read it. She has some wonderful original characters and a great Bruce Wayne. So take some time in the next week to enjoy this terrific story. Link to the prologue - each subsequent chapter is linked from the previous one.

Fandom: SMALLVILLE Pairing: none - Clark & Lex friendship fic Length: 7,956 Author on LJ: nonotthatone Author Website: none Why this must be read: This story asks the questions: What if Clark hadn't been able to reverse events after Lana died in Reckoning and she stayed dead? Where does that leave Clark and Lex?
The answers lie within this wonderful story. The author creates a very believable scenerio for both men, in how they might react to Lana's death and how it changes them. It's an emotional, messy process, not easy at all.
Jonathan and Martha appear in this story as well, and their characters are spot on too. It's a great AU of this episode, and a take I've never seen before. I hope you'll head on over to enjoy it.
