Oh! Is that car back there following us do you think? Maybe we'd better slip down this alley and lose them...

Fandom: THE MAN FROM UNCLE
Pairing: Illya/Napoleon
Length: Short
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] jessebee
Author Website:More at Chrome&Gunmetal
Why this must be read: I enjoy Jesse's writing, all the senses are engaged. I can smell and taste and feel the descriptions in this story, a quiet little piece that shows us a moment before our boys get involved, and for once it's Napoleon that is being all angsty and Illya is the one pointing out the obvious. I love that both of them are portrayed strong and beautiful and longing in this story and the end never fails to make me sigh and be happy. I hope you enjoy it as well.

05:55 pm they hung us from shooting stars by nitro26 (PG)
Fandom: HEROES
Pairing: Gen; Nathan Petrelli
Length: 1,700
Author on LJ: [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com]
Author Website: fic master list
Why this must be read:

This piece is a wonderful character study of Nathan Petrelli, his loves and failures, the people that have helped shape he into the person he is. I love the flow of this story, it's poetic and lyrical, a heartbreaking view of Nathan that definitely deserves a read.

But there are chinks. Chinks in his armor, holes in his story full of people and faces and things.

09:28 pm Cheating The Other Guy by friendshipper (PG)
Fandom: STARGATE ATLANTIS
Pairing: None (Teyla and Carter centric)
Length: 2000 words
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] friendshipper
Author Website: http://www.sholiofic.com/sga/
Why this must be read:

Because this is the summary: Sam and Teyla find themselves in a Western. Sort of. And Teyla seems to have accidentally sold her teammates to buy a ranch, but who can blame her

Come on - how can you not want to read this?

Okay fine, another reason: because Sam's reaction to being told Teyla has accidentally sold her teammates is to ask what she got for them and if she can leave them behind (sadly, no). Also because, when it turns out that a jail break isn't going to be necessary after all, Teyla and Sam spend the afternoon riding *lizards.*

Cheating The Other Guy is a fun, quirky read, in which the women's friendship is the important part, and they totally save the day at the end (with very little effort, contrary to the rest of the team) all told with a great deal of affection for everyone involved.

If you're familiar with Crack Van, then you know the crossover recs (Crack Van Collisions) are posted on the 15th. If you've checked the calendar, then you know this is the 23rd. However, if you've taken Intro to Calculus, then you also know that 15 is equal to 23 for large values of 15 and small values of 23, so there's no problem, right? (Also, I got permission from the mod to post this one late. After all, fandom does not run on math alone.)

Title: Nerds of the Earth, take note!
Pairing: Gen
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] emeraldwoman and [livejournal.com profile] brown_betty
Author Website: Betty's works on AO3, Emeraldwoman's works on AO3.
Why this must be read: It's a cool caper story where Alec Hardison and Tony Stark fight JARVIS' evil twin, the Black Widow and Eliot Spencer have a cagematch sans cage, and Nate Ford and Nick Fury compete for the title of Mister Mastermind, all told in a delightful Alec-voice. Also: Agent Coulson's secret super-power, revealed!
