12:01 pm The Christmas Elf by Lady Ra
Fandom: THE SENTINEL
Pairing: Jim/Blair
Length: 8190 words
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] ladyra
Author Website: http://www.visionsofprettyboys.com/
Why this must be read: - This is an AU 'Jim and Blair meet for the first time' story. Jim keeps being drawn back to Santa's Grotto at the mall...

We're not always in the mood for heart-wrenching drama. Basically, this is a bit of fluff, but it's an extremely enjoyable bit of fluff, with a reasonable amount of plot very nicely handled, when Jim and Blair meet in a completely different way.

12:45 pm Burn Notice: Update to Fandom Overview with minor S3 and 4 spoilers
Welcome back to Miami, fans. Enjoy the beach and the view. It's been a little over a year since [livejournal.com profile] wizefics produced the fandom overview. The original is an excellent brief to get you oriented to the show, and I doubt I can improve upon it. So instead, I'm going to brief you on the aspects of the show that have played a major role for Season 3 and beyond since the original overview was produced.

Important characters for season 3 and beyond )

That pretty much sums up the state of Michael Weston without getting too spoilery. The fandom is still pretty small, but as early seasons have started to run in syndication on other small networks, hopefully it will grow in the future. The communities haven't changed much, but I'll provide an updated rundown here. If I've missed anything, please comment and I'll add it in.

07:46 pm Four ways Arthur fails at courting Merlin, and one way he doesn't by lavvyan (G)
Fandom: Merlin
Pairing: Merlin/Arthur
Length: 821
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] lavvyan
Why this fic must be read: Because Arthur is obviously not good at courting and this story shows that in an affectionate and amusing way. I also love the way the author (and Arthur) treat their knowledge of Merlin's magical abilities.

The thing is Arthur hasn't the faintest idea how one would go about courting a sorcerer...

10:22 pm American Pie by Jane Terry (R)
Fandom: THE MAN FROM U.N.C.L.E.
Pairing: Napoleon Solo / Illya Kuryakin
Length: 50 KB
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] janeterry
Author Website: Lyrebird
Why this must be read: Jane Terry does the near impossible in this story by taking one of the worst episodes of the series ("The Jingle Bells Affair") and giving us back a delightful series of behind-the-scenes vignettes which explain just what Illya and Napoleon were up to when they weren't on the screen. She also manages to address one of the heavier issues the story raised, but never explored - Soviet relations with the west - and by using Illya and Napoleon's relationship  on a more personal level she again takes something thrown away by the episode and makes the reader not only understand, but care.

I not only double, but quadruple checked to make sure this story hadn't been rec'd here before. If I somehow missed that it had been, I apologize. I'm having serious doubts that this classic piece of Man from U.N.C.L.E. fan fiction hasn't been recommended before now but I'd rather rec it and be wrong than not rec it and miss out on the opportunity to introduce fans to this marvelous story.
