02:10 am The Truth or Dare Affair by elijahwildchild (R)
Fandom: THE MAN FROM U.N.C.L.E.
Pairing: Napoleon Solo / Illya Kuryakin
Length: 24 KB
Author on LJ:  [livejournal.com profile] elijahwildchild
Author Website: Her work is archived at The Chrome and Gunmetal Madhouse
Why this must be read: Written for the 2009 [livejournal.com profile] muncle Down the Chimney holiday story exchange, the three prompts for the story were "ice-skating, truth serum and chocolate" and if those three things don't set your naughty radar blinking then you obviously don't read enough slashy fan fiction - and certainly not enough of elijahwildchild's work. She's so incredibly talented at weaving espionage action and melt in your mouth hotness with added a dash of playful romance into mix to boot. If you don't have a big, goofy grin on your face by the end of this delightful story, I'll eat my hat.

04:28 pm Flowers Are Easy by [livejournal.com profile] lionessvalenti (PG-13)
Fandom: WHITE COLLAR
Pairing: Neal/Peter/Elizabeth
Length: 1775 words
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] lionessvalenti
Author Website: Fiction Journal

Why this must be read:[livejournal.com profile] lionessvalenti writes some of my favourite threesome fic, and this one struck a note that you don't see touched on a lot. Don't get me wrong, I am a fan of shiny, happy threesomes, but there is another side to it. What do you tell your co-workers when a man who isn't your husband brings you flowers at work? What do you tell your relatives, when you want to bring a "friend" with you to a family function? And what do you do, when someone puts you in a situation where your only choices are to deny who you are and who you love, let someone believe the worst about you, or defend yourself by sharing information that isn't any of their business?

I love El's emotional exploration in this, and her frank, easy discussion with Peter. It rings true to the way their marriage is portrayed on the show, and proves yet again that Elizabeth Burke is really freaking awesome.

08:26 pm Memories of guns by Jadethe2nd (G)
Fandom: FIREFLY
Pairing: Zoe/Wash
Length: 636
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] jadethe2nd

Why this must be read:
Imagine if Wash and Zoe had a child.
How would she grow up? Where would she grow up. Would she learn to fight like her Mum? Or would she be a pilot like her Daddy?
In this ficlet [livejournal.com profile] jadethe2nd answers those questions with  a wonderful mix of the present, told by Wash and Zoe, and snippets of the future told by their daughter. It's a lovely look at what growing up on the Serenity would be like. There are also three sort of sequels linked at the end of this one.

10:05 pm Drawn to any good, (or, The education of Arthur Pendragon) by chibirhm (NC-17)
Fandom: Merlin
Pairing: Merlin/Arthur
Length: 60,000 words
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] chibirhm
Why this must be read: Written for this year's Merlin Big Bang, this story is an awesome rendering of a Victorian AU with a magical twist. When Arthur follows Morgana to an imagined tryst, he eventually finds a totally different life instead. I love the growth of relationship between Merlin and Arthur and all the glimpses of life in Victorian London. Arthur is delightfully romantic in this story and Merlin distressfully practical. I read the whole story in one sitting and will be going back for another read.

10:49 pm Demi-Gods and Hungry Ghosts by Cori Lannam (NC-17)
Fandom: STAR WARS: THE PHANTOM MENACE
Pairing: Qui-Gon Jinn/Obi-Wan Kenobi
Length: 68k
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] corilannam
Author Website: Unknown but her fic is archived at Jedi Masters and
Apprentices

Why this must be read:
Set years after the events of TPM, in which Qui-Gon survived, Anakin has turned, but not before driving a wedge between Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan. This is Cori's version of the prequels and I think her best work. It's gritty and sensitive, bitter and sweet, a story about love and second chances. This story was originally published in the Q/O fanzine Living Force II.

11:11 pm Razor’s Edge by colorguar28 (Teen)
Fandom: NCIS
Pairing: Tony/Tim
Length: 125k
Author on LJ: Unknown
Author Website: http://www.fanfiction.net/u/2278410/colorguard28
Why this must be read:

Well, first of all I promised stories that were NOT Tony/Gibbs centric, just so that you’all would have a change. Secondly. I like this story and I’m not a Tim fan. I like him, he’s just not the one I usually want to read about. I suspect it’s because I know too much about computers already. But I enjoyed the heck out of this story and definitely plan on reading the sequel. This is very definitely a plot centered story. The slash is there but not at all explicit. I like her reasons Tony and Tim got together, I like the two’s responses to a renewal of Abby’s interest in Tim. I like the response of the rest of the team once they find out. There is a long slow build in this story and (Warning) it continues into the sequel which I admit to not having read yet. I’m not up on recent NCIS, but this story contains parts of at least two episodes with the writer fitting in unseen scenes to fit the story line in. It works very well.

I’ll try to get another story or two in before the end of the month, but I don’t want to be part of the grand rush to push more in before I leave. I’ll just look around for more stories and come back some day.  I’ll make sure and clean all the cat kibble out of the van before I leave.
