Fandom: TORCHWOOD Character(s)/Pairing(s): Owen, Ianto Length: ~1200 words. Author on LJ: lookninjasAuthor Website: ninjasnanoWhy this must be read:This is a funny, bitter-sweet conversation about zombies and brains and things unsaid that perfectly sums up Owen and Ianto's antagonistic friendship. Excerpt: They were all acting like a bunch of girls, and it was bloody irritating. Yes, he had died. He was dead. He was walking around with no heartbeat, no respirations, no digestive activity. Completely and totally dead. Still, the fussing had gotten ridiculous
So when Owen saw Ianto coming towards him, a cup of coffee in each hand, he budged over on the sofa, made a bit of room. He didn't even bother pointing out that he couldn't very well drink coffee anymore; he was sick of explaining himself anyway. He just held the mug in his hands and let Ianto sit down, a careful distance away. Ianto wasn't much, but at least he could be relied upon to be sensible.
"So," Ianto said, after a little bit. "You're a zombie."
Owen laughed hard, more out of surprise and relief than anything else. Only Ianto. Brothers in Arms

Fandom: Supernatural Pairing: Dean/Crowley Length: ~2,500 Author on LJ: fleshflutter Author Website: TagsI didn't know I would love this pairing so much, despite my absolute love for Crowley. And then I read this fic and UNF. We all know fleshflutter has a way with words and porn and this pairing is no exception. The deals build up until it pushes Dean's limits too far. Crowley comes back though, with an offer Dean can't refuse. And while this fic seems like a PWP, there's some nice subtleties that speak to Dean and his underlying emotional needs. Plus, I love the Crowley voice. ( Mini-Teaser )I'm your villain

Fandom: STARGATE ATLANTIS Pairing: Sheppard/McKay Length: ~ 27,000 words Author on LJ: purnaAuthor Website: Purna's SGA FictionWhy this must be read: Another fantastic AU by a terrific writer. At first this one seems like no more than a standard AU - John's a lifeguard, Rodney's a wealthy eccentric who John rescues from drowning. But both of them are carrying scars - John from Afghanistan, Rodney from Atlantis - and in one another they find comfort and yes, there's hot, desperate, needy sex. There's also a slow unfolding of background details, a peeling back of complex layers, and of course, the outside world intends to interfere with their happiness, dragging Rodney back into a world that John can never be part of. Or can he? ( 'Go ahead and strip off the wet one first,' he said when McKay started to pull the sweatshirt on over his T-shirt. 'You'll be a lot warmer.' )Read the story / Feedback the author: Converging

Fandom: Supernatural Pairing: Dean/Castiel/Lisa Length: ~2,000 Author on LJ: nyoka/ chocolate_muse Author Website: Fanfic Master ListBy far the best fic I've read involving Lisa. It doesn't dismiss her, but it keeps Cas there, too, and both on an emotional level as well as sexually. I loved Lisa and Cas' conversation because, God, how absolutely true of Dean. The pacing and vivid descriptions make this a beautiful, though short, piece about (most of) the people Dean loves. Gorgeous, really. ( Mini-Teaser )Telegraph

Fandom: SAPPHIRE AND STEEL Pairing: none Length: 2.700 words Author on LJ: mab_browneAuthor Website: Mab's FanficWhy this must be read:We have no clue how old Sapphire and Steel are, nor how long elements live, though we know hundreds of years seem to mean nothing to them. In "The Green Girl" mab_browne imagines them in an earlier era, a time ruled by superstition with humans poking, as they always will, at what they shouldn't. This is another story that reads like an episode, an eerie atmosphere, a power that lashes out hungrily, and Sapphire and Steel, very much themselves here, exhibiting that tinge of paranoia that often defines them, grasping for make-shift solutions to keep Pandora's box closed. "There's a consciousness here?"
Sapphire shut her eyes, her fingers tightening upon Steel's. "Yes," she said, lost for a moment in reverie, "yes." Her eyes opened, blindly luminous with power. "Isn't there always when we're needed?"
"What sort of consciousness?"
Sapphire was silent.
"What sort of consciousness, Sapphire?"
"Feel for yourself," she said, irritated suddenly, surrounded, infused with power and memories, and pushed the images in her mind straight to his. The Green Girl
