Why this must be read:

OK, yes, insta-rec, but this popped up on my flist today and I just had to pass it along. Look, we've all been where Fanfiction Flamingo references, and it's because Five Times fics are great. This one mentions being inspired by a previous fic of the same name, which you should also read (it's linked in headers), but they go a very different set of paths. This one starts with a bang, and really establishes the tone; I also found number 3 to be a bit of a punch in the gut. This is not a happy cheerful five times fic, I must admit, but it's well done and deserves a great big round of applause.

Why this must be read:
This story is an AU I guess because Starsky is a detective and Hutch is a musician. They meet at Huggys because Ken Hutchinson is the live entertainment. This is one HOT story. They are so drown to each other. I loved this story!

He'd had plenty of time to practice, tune, warm up. Actually it was going well. He had gotten used to performing when he never really knew what the clientele wanted, what the sound system was like, and how much smoke he had to inhale and pretend it was air. He didn't smoke much himself any more, except sometimes after sex or when he had to wait a long time for a train. He got plenty of smoke second hand.

He started with the Simon song because it had never really gone out of his head since he'd thought of it in the Amtrak waiting room.

"I'm sitting in a railway station,
Got a ticket for my destination,
Mmmhmmm . . . ."

People had begun to sing along by the end of the first verse, and though it was distracting, it was also a good sign that he'd found a song they liked.

"Homeward bound
I wish I was
Homeward bound
Home, where my thought's escaping,
Home where my music's playing
Home where my love lies waiting
Silently for me."

A flash caught his eye and he saw a dark-haired man his own age lighting a cigarette. A hard face under soft curls, a melancholy stare out of dark eyes while a strong slim hand waved the smoke away. Gold winking around his throat and dark hair beneath the gold in the open neck of his shirt.

Just the kind of person he

Why this must be read: because it perfectly captures the rollercoaster range of Bodie’s thoughts, emotions, reactions, and realisations as he find something unexpected in Doyle’s flat, realises what it means, and works out what he wants. Utterly involving from start to finish.

Fandom: Canadian Actor RPF
Pairing: Callum Keith Rennie/Hugh Dillon
Length: 1,910 words

Why this must be read:  Because Callum and Hugh recording a birthday edition commentary of HCL for Bruce is too funny to resist (and a fangirl dream come true).  They poke fun at the movie, their performances, Bruce, Noel, even Men With Brooms. Lilac-one's dialogue crackles with lines like Any time there's animal sacrifice, things are going to get weird.  And Hugh's finding Callum's knife-licking scene as much of a turn-on as we do is simply perfect.
