When Avery showed up on the scene last year, she was immediately welcomed into the community, her work instantly striking a chord among those who discovered her delightful and meaningful stories. Her writing is elegant and evocative, drawing in the reader as only the best are able to do. She weaves a story with an attention to detail that makes the settings seem real, the characters full of a pathos and integrity that we all knew in our hearts was present.
You'll find a mystery here, an elderly woman with secrets and special senses; a missing Russian and his worried partner. It could be any story from the MFU world of fiction, but it isn't. It is a story worth more than one reading, from an author you'll want to get to know better.

Why this must be read:It's finally not a PG one! ;) In between the Doctor leaving Rose in Pete's World and them meeting again Rose goes all BAMF. This is the story of her growing up from the happy go lucky girl the Doctor knew into the massive gun toting kick ass woman in 'Turn Left'. Irrealia has written a lovely if slightly angsty view of Rose's life 'after the Doctor'. At first, right after Canary Wharf, she doesn't want to be touched at all. Every touch reminds her of the hand that failed to catch her, the hand she'd held a thousand times before and would never hold again. Every time someone took her hand it was as if her whole body sighed and relaxed—for a moment, until she realized she wasn't holding HIS hand, and she would remember what had happened all over again. She wears jumpers with too-long sleeves, chunky knit armwarmers, or heavy leather gloves whenever possible. Fortunately, the rough field work she does for Torchwood often justifies her new-found penchant for hand protection.
