Vidder: Crimson Musical Artist: Poets of the Fall Pairing: Bodie/Doyle Vidder on LJ: crimson_37Vidder Website: Pros Fanvids By CrimsonWhy this vid kicks ass: If there ever was a suitable song for our lads, this is it. The lyrics are perfect. Listen to them, and you'll see how Crimson choose the perfect clips for every single moment, creating this way an incredibly fitting portrait for these two men, who depend on each other to keep themselves not only alive, but sane and whole. Beautiful! For those who aren't native English speakers, and could have some problems to understand the lyrics, have them ( here: )There is no streaming, at least for my knowledge, but you can download it here: Carnival of Rust by Poets of the Fall. Watch this video, seriously, you'll no regret it.

Fandom: WB/CW RPS Pairing: Jensen/Jared Length: 20,037 Author on LJ: vorpalbladesAuthor Website: Master ListWhy this must be read:This probably isn’t very geeky, but I LOVE going to the movies. Love sitting in the back row, applauding for previews (because you never know – the previews might be better than the film, and they deserve your love *nods*), being drawn into the story on the big screen. Love fake-buttery popcorn and milk duds and 2-liters worth of Sprite disguised as a “medium” drink. Going to the movies after school and in the summer was a major pastime for friends and I growing up. I don't get to go as often as I'd like now, but the love is still there. This fic reminds me of all those things, and makes me smile remembering them. It’s the story of newly-hired Jared working at the Starlight Cinemas. Long-time summer employees Chris Kane, Michael Rosenbaum, Tom Welling and, of course, Jensen Ackles help make the drudgery of a *gasp* summer job much more bearable. The banter is quick and fun, the friendships feel established and comfortable, and Jared being added to the fold happens at a natural pace, as does the more-than-friendship that grows between he and Jensen. Fandom: LIFE ON MARS UK Pairing: Sam/Gene Length: 800 words. Author on LJ: petronelle on LJ/ petra on Dreamwidth. Author Website: Petra's Stories on DeliciousWhy this must be read: The summary is this: "Afraid I'm going to get you up the duff, Gladys?" And no, it is not m-preg. It's a story about negotiating sexual politics, about Sam's knowledge of the future impacting his past-present, and about Gene doing that thing he always does yet pretends he doesn't: compromise. It is, in short, AWESOME. Petra is an excellent writer. She always has amazing voices and her characterisation is exemplary. As well as fiction that concentrates only on Life on Mars, she writes a lot of Life on Mars/Ashes to Ashes crossover fic (and Ashes to Ashes fic!) I highly recommend checking all of her fiction out. Fandom: The Man From UNCLE Pairings: None Length: 1363 Author on LJ: unknown Author Website: www.ravenslair.net/vault/darklady/ and www.fanfiction.net/u/40506/Darklady Why this must be read: The month of April is nearly over, and I think I've finally gotten the hang of driving this van. I hope we've shared these stories, because I did try to bring in something old and something new, something borrowed and something a little blue. Well, it is a big wedding day. This is short and slightly chilling(speaking of blue), and not just because of the location. Illya has a task involving an old comrade, and neither of them is completely forthcoming about how they arrived at their current positions. I won't say anymore about it, just settle down for a few minutes and see a side of Kuryakin that we sometimes forget about.

Fandom: WB/CW RPS Pairing: Jensen/Jared Length: It’s a freaking huge ‘verse, with stories ranging from drabbles to full-length Author on LJ: raeschaeAuthor Website: Non-Disclaimer Master ListWhy this must be read:I can’t believe April is over already – driving the van has been a blast, and I hope you’ve enjoyed the stories I’ve recced. If so, please make sure to give the authors feedback – comments = love. I’m finishing off my tour with the hardest sell as far as how it fits with the rest. Yes, this ‘verse has a lot of things I love, but I don’t know that it hits any of my geek buttons. Despite that, I absolutely couldn’t leave it out, because it’s such an easy sell as far as why you should read it. This is a ginormous set of stories (including wonderful comment fic), each on a delight to read. To get you to check them out, I could go for the obvious – Tattoo artist!Jared and graphic designer!skater!Jensen (complete with plenty of pics) – hard to resist. But really, that doesn’t feel right, because I think what I love most about this ‘verse is that it shows how little appearances and preconceptions can (and should) matter. Plus, the strength of the love throughout each and every story, not just between Jared and Jensen but for the extended family they’ve created, just takes my breath away. There isn’t anyone of the group I wouldn’t be happy and lucky to count as a friend, if only they existed. I’m linking to the Master List, so you have easy access to the entire ‘verse. Fandom: HARRY POTTER Pairing: Sirius/Bellatrix, Regulus Length: 2,147 Author on LJ: prurient_badgerAuthor Website: MemoriesWhy this must be read:Sirius and Bellatrix have always fascinated me as a potential pairing, and this author does an excellent job showing them from Regulus's point of view in this piece. The lyrical quality of the writing as well as how prurient_badger has interwoven the fairy tales into the story really add to the horror of it all and makes for a brilliant read. Once upon a time, there were two brothers, and they were the best of friends.A Lane to the Land of the Dead

Fandom: WATCHMEN Pairings: Ozymandias/Comedian Length: 6575 Author on LJ: telluryanAuthor Website: http://watchmenfic.livejournal.com/41472.htmlWhy this must be read: This fic. Oh, this fic. It is huge, it is elaborate and well written, hot and pretty angsty. And comes in a few parts. It makes the romance, or rather non-romance between Adrian and the Comedian work so very well. It's one of those fics that I couldn't stop reading until I'd read all the parts in one go.

Fandom: STAR WARS: THE PHANTOM MENACE Pairing: Qui-Gon Jinn/Obi-Wan Kenobi Length: Medium Author on LJ: destina Author Website: Star Wars Fiction Why this must be read: April flew by! I hope you enjoyed the tour. This is my final rec of the month, a lovely poignant story in which Obi-Wan must face his inner demons in order to pass his trials. Destina is an awesome writer who couldn’t write a bad anything if she tried.
Excerpt:
It was near dawn when Obi-Wan rose stiffly, stretching tight muscles. So many things were clear to him, things his mind had surrounded with walls and excuses before. He had done something a Jedi should never do. No wonder the Council had cast him out so he could be made to see.
With the realizations came understanding, acceptance of his imperfections. He would never be the perfect Jedi. He would not even be the best of their Order, but he would learn to become what he had hoped so long ago - a man who followed the Light, who was one with the Force and who served its will without anger. So many facets of his future had become clear to him...the threads were tied together, though he hadn't known how closely they were related. He loved Qui-Gon; he always had. As his teacher, and as much, much more. He had been foolish not to say so long before.

Vidder: seduff Musical artist: Potbelleez Vidder on LJ: seduff Vidder's website: YoutubeWhy this vid kicks ass: Goodness where to start? Seduff is a professional TV commercial editor so all of her work is AMAZING. I highly recomend checking out her journal for some amazing fan art. She's also the one who took the weirdness that was the BBC'S series 5 trailer and turned it into something really rather cool. In 'Don't Hold Back' Seduff has seamlessly mixed clips from the Potbelleez Music Video (and other episodes of Doctor Who) into a fascinating look at 'The Family of Blood'. ( Click for more. )
