And the non-canon clip at the end was perfect (It's from Italy's In Season, a promotional advert). I rec rec rec this because it is amazing and sweet and laugh-out-loud funny. Why this must be read:The Empty House is just what you might think it is - a modern version of the canon “Empty House” where Watson learns Holmes is not dead, and there’s a very dangerous reason why he’s had to fake his own death. In this version, however, much has changed while Sherlock has been away. Sherlock, for one, is learning (with the help of his nemesis and friend, Irene Adler) that he’s capable of love and that it’s John he cares about. Meanwhile, John has gone on with his life (to say more would be to spoil it). Sherlock must return however, when people associated with him start dying (non-major character deaths do occur). I am fairly biased as I beta’ed this fic. But three read-throughs never managed to dull my appreciation for the intricacies of the plot, the fabulous characterizations and the amazing story-telling that pulls you in and never lets you go. You haven't read "Indecorous" yet? This was the reaction of a friend upon learning that no, I hadn't read it. My initial reaction is usually "well, I ain't gonna!" if someone insists. But in this case, I'm glad that my curiosity was piqued enough to start reading it. Okay, ready? Here's the summary: In which John learns to balance a kinky girlfriend, an asexual boyfriend, a ten-inch cock, his sister, the neighbours, his friends, and his blog. Some are more balanced than others. Yeah, what?! But once I started reading I couldn't stop. I wanted to know more about Tai Morstan, an original character loosely based on Mary Morstan from ACD canon (and you will like her too). The way this polyamorous relationship works and is functional - for the most part - is astounding. It will make you laugh out loud and it will make you think and it will set your panties on fire as a bonus. You will want two boyfriends. You will want Tai to be your girlfriend. She's particularly good with Mycroft. “Rustication” is as good a place to start as any. harriet_spy (“SarahT” on Dreamwidth) is generous with her writerly goodness, pulling you in with descriptive bits that define a moment or a person perfectly. For example, this is pretty cool: Sherlock was now crouched on the floor in the light the telly cast, the very picture of an insomniac mind, eyes remote, hair waving like some fantastic undersea foliage, a red mark on his cheek where it had been pushed into the chair. He was going through the contents of his coat pockets, sorting them and resorting them as if that would somehow make them more useful. It was a weirdly homey sight.In this fic, Mycroft thinks he knows what’s best for Sherlock and you know how that goes. He kidnaps John and Sherlock for their own safety after the events at the swimming pool, but Sherlock will not be caged while he’s on a case! Rustication | | |
