01:36 am Absolute Power by Russet McMillan (R)
Fandom:THE SENTINEL
Pairing: Blair Sandburg/Original Male Character
Length: 3000 words
Author on LJ: Unknown
Author Website: http://users.apo.nmsu.edu/~mcmillan/stories/sen.html
Why this must be read:

One of the tropes in Sentinel fandom is that sometimes heightened senses make Jim more vulnerable. This story shows us just how ruthlessly Blair understands that.

When a middle-eastern terrorist shows up in Cascade, it turns out he's a sentinel with his own ideas on how to protect his people. Lured into a trap and deliberately zoned, Jim is helpless and Blair has to save him.

08:16 am words we use for you and me by carolinecrane (NC-17)
Fandom:GLEE
Pairing: Puck/Kurt
Length: 37,600 words, four parts
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] carolinecrane
Author Website: masterlist and AO3
Why this must be read:
After Kurt transfers to Dalton, his life is perfect. He has friends and a spot in the show choir, and a hot boyfriend who's totally into him, so it's easy to ignore the nagging feeling that something's missing. Then Puck turns up and Kurt's life gets a lot more

This echos a lot of thoughts I had before I started to like Blaine. He's too perfect, he's kind of boring, he's not good for Kurt. I don't really agree with those thoughts anymore, but I still like this fic. [livejournal.com profile] carolinecrane writes great characters, who are all believable, and in character. And she provides a plausible explanation for Puck's random disappearance in season two. It's an excellent representation of a Glee AU.

01:35 pm Variations on a Theme by TamsinBailey (T)
Fandom: BONES
Pairing: Booth/Brennan
Length: 9,719
Author on LJ: N/A
Author Website: TamsinBailey on FF.net
Why this must be read:

Author’s summary: Being a treatise on the origins of Booth and Bren: not crime solvers extraordinaire.

More Lab!verse! As TamsinBailey points out in her AN, there’s no reason that Brennan would be any less opposed to marriage in the Lab!verse than in the Jeffersonian!verse, yet “The End in the Beginning” showed us a happily married Booth and Brennan. This fic acts as an origin story of sorts for Booth and Brennan in the Lab!verse, beginning at their initial meeting and following them as their romance unfolds. The writing is simple but striking, the details about working at the Lab are rich, and TamsinBailey does a fantastic job of fleshing out an alternate but entirely in-character Brennan.

07:44 pm you left a bloodstain on the floor by amoenavi (pg13)
Fandom: The Vampire Diaries
Pairing: Stefan (some Stefan/Elena)
Length: 340
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] amoenavi
Author Website [livejournal.com profile] theweightofus
Why this must be read: [livejournal.com profile] amoenavi does the best Stefan PoVs I've ever read. This story, in particular, is incredibly poignant because of where our boy was left in the finale. The world needs more dark!Stefan fic. It's a short one, but each sentence feels like a whole story in itself.

Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] aelora [livejournal.com profile] aelora

Why this must be read:
This 2009 Merlin Big Bang story is an epic romance, and it hit a lot of my fic kinks (creative use of magical elements, secret love that turns out to be requited, protecting a lover, revealing a truth, friendship) dead center.
