I'll be going through some MCR, Panic, FOB, Mix and Matches, AU's (like the one below) and Maybe even a few Skippy Fics that I think are need reads. Promise not to bite (Well not til Halloween ;D) Jump In and lets get this party rolling!

Fandom: BANDOM
Pairing: Gerard/Brian, Pete/Patrick, background Bob/Ryan
Length: 68,433 words
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] ladyfoxxx

AO3 List
Why this must be read: Her Summary: Director Gerard Way's latest feature, "The Umbrella Academy" is his first shot at a big budget mainstream hit, if he can keep his mind on the job and not on his hot stunt coordinator.

I am a film student. I originally read this because OMG BANDOM BIG BANG FIC (2010) FROM [livejournal.com profile] ladyfoxxx! But reading it you can see the whole process of making a movie and the progress of the relationships. How she writes some of the characters just makes it that much better. Make sure to check out her Cast and Crew List for all the characters and all of the Actors she cast in The UA Movie.

Now Ladies and Gentlemen, I present

Why this must be read: action, angst, heartbreaking emotion and a first time story

Hi! Marti here, and it’s my turn to drive the van. Be warned, I have absolutely no sense of direction, so these recs are going to be all over the map…hopefully we won’t get lost! Funny thing, Krisser is handing off the keys at just the spot I’d planned to start my drive – with a story by JGL!

First up is a story from my favorite Pro’s writer JGL. “Calibre” takes place post “Discovered in a Graveyard”. It’s a story of two hard men whose world is rocked by Doyle’s brush with death, their confused feelings for each other and issues of trust and betrayal. It is also a story of friendship and support. What makes it stand out is JGL’s amazing ability to set a scene, or a mood, or describe a character’s emotions with just a few well chosen words.

excerpt 1 )

The story is filled with angst. JGL’s writing makes the reader feel the pain along with the characters.

excerpt 2 )
It’s a very tense story, but the lads bantering finds its way into the narrative and this except is a terrific example of how well JGL captured the ‘canon’ lads. I can see the two of them in this little scene.
excerpt 3 )

JGLs story is an emotional rollercoaster, a thrill ride of the highest calibre, looping through hurt, pain, despair, betrayal, and forgiveness, hope, healing and love. I think you’ll really enjoy the ride!

Hello! I'm back for another turn behind the wheel of the Watchmen van. I hope you enjoy this month's recs.

Fandom: WATCHMEN
Characters: OC, Dr. Manhattan (sort of)
Length: ~500 words
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] mosellegreen
Author Website: None
Why this must be read: This is a fascinating little ficlet which explores some of the implications of Dr. Manhattan’s existence in the wider word of the Watchmen-verse. The straightforward style in which it’s written really throws its chilling content into sharp relief.

Hi, I'm Gaby and I'll be your driver for all things NCIS  this month! :)

Fair warning: I'm a Tony gal through and through, and I usually ship him with Gibbs. I will, however, try my best to rec anything and everything, from explicit slash to team gen fics, from hysterical crack!fic to angsty hurt/comfort. So, I hope there'll be something for everyone here!

My plan is to make a daily pit stop, which you'll probably need because I'm an erratic driver. *g* So, buckle up and enjoy the ride!

Fandom: NCIS
Pairing: None. (Characters: Tony DiNozzo, Leroy Jethro Gibbs)
Length: 1123 words
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] donutsweeper
Author Website: [livejournal.com profile] donutville
Why this must be read: From the author's summary: "Tony was still capable of surprising Gibbs- and teaching him a thing or two about life as well." And that's exactly it. We don't know what happened to Tony, and it doesn't matter. What matters is how Tony deals with life and what others may perceive as his limitations. This story is short and bittersweet. It breaks your heart and makes you smile. One of my all-time fave stories and one of the reasons why I wanted to drive the van in the first place! :)

Hi, I'm Jas, and I'm going to be driving the van for Merlin for October. I'm putting this up right now, so that fen straight off the Season 4 premiere can have good fic waiting for them.

I'm heavily Merlin/Arthur and OT4 focused, but I do think nothing is better than fic that brings out the best in all the characters in the show.

Fandom: MERLIN
Pairing: Merlin/Arthur
Length: 25,000 words
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] pushdragon
Author Website: Master Post
Why this must be read: The summary tells you most of what you need to know: Fanfic classic #3: Unexpected Possession of Magic. Inexplicable things keep happening around Arthur. In the end, he can only accept that he's got magic in him. Magic is a curse that needs to be stamped out, and Arthur shows himself no mercy.

Arthur's reaction to his 'magic' (his horourable resolve) and Merlin's reaction to losing Arthur (darkest anguish) are exactly spot-on in a beautifully crafted story taking one of the staples of Merlin fandom - the magic reveal/discovery - and giving it a fantastic and well written twist.

A fic I'm only too delighted to take the van to first...
