Fandom: FRINGE Pairing: none Length: 1991 Author on LJ: vega_ofthe_lyreAuthor Website: vega_writesWhy this must be read:This is one of the most creative uses of Fringe's multiverse concept that I've read yet. Vega shows us what it would be like if every time Olivia went to sleep, she found herself dreaming in another universe. Each dream is different, with some universes seeming more familiar than others, but none is her own. And they keep getting worse and worse. Olivia opens her eyes to a world of hazy golden-orange light. Her hand is outstretched before her, as if she was suspended in motion just before she awoke in this world. This is new; curiously, she tries to move her finger and ball her hand into a fist.
She can't.
It takes a moment for her to realise what's happened, what the strange quality to the amber light means, and then she tries to draw breath to scream.
But she can't do that either.Read It Calls Me On and On.

Fandom: THE SENTINEL Pairing: gen Length: 6,285 words Author on LJ: unknown Author Website: Iris Wilde's Sentinel FanficI'm in mourning because I haven't had time yet to start reading the sentinelbigbang fics that are being posted (why aren't there 64 hours in a day? at least right now, when all things seem to need doing at the same time, for some reprehensible reason). But meanwhile, I have some not-quite-as-fresh-off-the-press (but worthwhile, I hope) recs still up my sleeve...Why this must be read: A fun fic that's pretty much perfect for Thanksgiving (I apologize for the US-centricness of that statement, since I know other countries celebrate Thanksgiving holidays at other times or maybe don't have a specific holiday labeled that way). For me, the thing with this fic is how well I could see this playing out in front of my eyes; the guys are in character in a... well, sort of non-schmoopy but adorable way, and I just have to laugh, reading this. BTW, the Fargo hat is also in character. And definitely adorable. :-) ( Excerpt )Duck Takes a Holiday (on Iris Wilde's website)

Fandom: A-TEAM MOVIE!VERSE Pairing: Murdock/Hannibal Length: 15K Author on LJ: purrslinkAuthor Website: Author's Live Journal. Why this must be read: There are some intense fics in this fandom, but there are also a lot of witty writers who infuse their stories with a sense of humor, like purrslink. This is one of my favorites of hers. Here, Hannibal takes on the task of getting an incredibly reluctant Murdock to swim. Purrslink writes a close third person, focusing on Murdock's point of view, and she balances the eccentricities of the pilot perfectly - allowing Murdock to be both troubled and a genius and hilarious in most respects. On Murdock jumping into the pool:
For a few moments he was actually ok with it all. Sure, he’d flung himself to an early demise, but at least he still had his balls and could claim man points once it all ended and he was in the after life exchanging bro stories with Houdini and Charles Lindburgh. He’s fairly certain he has Houdini beat on near-death experiences, but he’d been hoping to have a few more flight hours on Lindburgh. Oh well, no sense crying over that now, and besides, he’d flipped a helicopter. That had to be worth a few points at the very least.
She also writes the other characters well, capturing their group dynamic as well as their individual quirks. There's some light Hannibal/Murdock here, as well, though nothing is explicit.

Fandom: Candy for Christmas Pairing: Solo/Kuryakin Length: 2,800 words Author on LJ: sensine Author Website: My link collection at delicious.com
or see her old site via the Wayback Machine Why this must be read:
It's funny! And witty. sensine tells a tale of the two agents, on one of their first missions as partners, running into Thrush and having things go awry. As Napoleon says: "Well, UNCLE policy isn't exactly jump your partner and botch a mission either. I did, though." And to make it worse, they have to come up with a good story for Mr. Waverly, who responds by rolling his eyes. Frequently. A nice light and very, very clever story. Fandom: SHERLOCK Pairing: John/Sherlock (asexual) Length: 3500+ words Author on LJ: tartancravat / tartanficsAuthor Website: LJ Masterlist and AO3Why this must be read:Everybody in fandom wants to get John and Sherlock in bed together. For the first time, there is no alien menace, no love potion, no "fuck or die" scenario. Nope. These two men just live and breathe enough of each other to get into each others skin—and under the covers. The author makes it perfectly sane and natural for them to start sharing a bed together, and there's never a reason to question it. Seven Ways to Fall AsleepOn AO3.
