Fandom: YAMI NO MATSUEI Pairing: Mild Hisoka/Tsuzuki Length: 416 Author on LJ: wordsofastory Author Website: Author's Page on AO3 Why this must be read: Bridgh's fics are some of the best in the fandom, and this meditation on the literally firey climax of the Kyoto Files arc is shatteringly beautiful. A lesser writer might have used fire, but she draws on its polar opposite, looking at this event from the point of view of four characters at the center of it all... I'll stop blithering and let it speak for itself. Salt Water

Fandom: KISS KISS BANG BANG Pairing: Harry/Harmony, Harry/Perry, Harry/OC Length: 390 Author on LJ: eighth_horizonAuthor Website: http://gekizetsu.net/sn/fic.htmlWhy this must be read:I don't usually like reccing ultra-short fics, but I do make exceptions if the fic is awesome. This fic is awesome. There's really not a whole lot I can say about this one that the title doesn't already say. Basically, it's fifty worst-case scenarios that are all designed to make Perry's life a living hell. And they're all called Harry Lockhart. 50 things Perry Van Shrike never wants to hear from Harry Lockhart, ever

Fandom: Wilby Wonderful Pairing: Carol/Buddy, mentions of Duck/Buddy, pre-Duck/Dan Length: 5500 words Author on LJ: exeterlindenAuthor website: on LJ and AO3Why this must be read:The Cinema Show is a historical, documentary-style AU set during August of 1923, on the day that Wilby gets its first movie theater. The narrative voice, using flashbacks heavily, is gorgeous and artfully captures the problems and the hopefulness of the film. There's an ease to reading this piece and picturing the events unfold as if one really is watching a documentary . The Cinema Show

Fandom: WIZARDS OF WAVERLY PLACE Pairing: Justin/Alex Length: 17,545 words Author on LJ: save_vs_magicAuthor Website: fanfiction.netWhy this must be read:Long and well-written fics with a well-developed plot are amazing but sometimes you don't want to think. There are moments when you need something different... where you need smut. But there are also times where you want both. Smut AND plot and this fic connects these two things in a wonderful way. The author has a beautiful writing style. Her Alex is snarky but still charming. Sometimes a little beast but you love her nevertheless. The same for Justin. There are moments when he is smartass and only few sentences later he is the funny and cute Geek which you only want to sex up hug. The same thought has also Alex in this fic after she finds out Justin wants to be a doctor instead of a scientiest. Convinced that this is a joke or something similar she wants to test his abilities as a doctor. Which follows is something I really don't want to experience with my real doctor but between Alex and Justin (or me and David Henrie/Justin)? Hell yes! I don't like doctor-patient-roleplays but this? This is freaking hot and Justins/Alexs snarky comments are the icing of the cake. One of my favorite PWP-with-Plot of this fandom. :) Doc Day Afternoon (LJ), FF.net --> Seemingly out of the blue, Justin announces that he wants to go to med school after college. Alex thinks he’d make a terrible doctor. Justin naturally disagrees, Alex challenges him to prove it, and sexy hi-jinks ensue. (a sequel/continuation of sorts of Episode 3.22, Delinquent Justin)

That same androgynous figure who's been driving the YnM van is now lounging on the rear bumper, their hair suddenly silver and neatly brushed out, and their form clad in an immaculate white suit. "Enjoying the ride so far? It's about to get bumpy: today I'll be posting a few fics featuring Muraki, with or without various pairings. It's the pale, creepy gent's forty-seventh birthday and what's a birthday without a few surprises?" Fandom: YAMI NO MATSUEI Pairing: Muraki/Hisoka Length: 2,581 Author on LJ: seshats_prodigy Author Website: Tag List on their LJ Why this must be read: This fic is an utter delight, albeit in a wonderfully nasty way. Much like a conversation with the not-so-good-doctor, it starts off innocent and innocuous enough, with Hisoka and a few other shinigami from the Judgment Bureau enjoying some holiday cheer at a bar, then Hisoka decides to step out for some fresh air, only to find something wicked his way coming, in the form of an ardent Muraki with some clever ways to adaptively reuse Christmas decorations as bondage devices. It's downhill from there, like a sled on a vertiginous drop, but much as it makes one cringe, you'll be enjoying that mad rush... 'You're a Mean One, Dr. M'

Fandom: WIZARDS OF WAVERLY PLACE Pairing: Stevie/Alex Length: 3.352 words Author on LJ: none Author Website: fanfiction.net Why this must be read:
Personally I'm not a huge femslasher. There is only one f/f pairing which could me persuade in the last six years in various fandoms but nevertheless... I'm strangely intrigued with this pairing and their canon friendship/relationship.
The fic doesn't follow the Stevie arc which is no surprise but it still starts with a friendship between Alex and Stevie. Through Stevie's eyes the readers can see how she views Alex and how their relationship develop. Normal and not so normal moments give Steviehope but she still struggles with her feelings. Unsure if and how she can seduce Alex.
The author shows us a Stevie who is a bad girl and a wizard but it's basically still a teenager who is unsure how to persuade her crush. Her way to admit her love is realistic and maybe this is the reason that I like the fic so much. I understand Stevie. Her feelings, her fear and her love for Alex and as I read the fic I wished her nothing more than a happy end. :)
Break Me Down (FF.net) --> Like Stevie actually gives a damn that Alex is straight.

Fandom: YAMI NO MARSUEI Pairing: None, gen Length: 550 Author on LJ: lady_ganesh Author Website: Author's Page on AO3 Why this must be read:It's a given in canon that Oriya often ends up doing favors for Muraki, but one gets the feeling that in turn, Muraki has to return favor to his longtime friend and protector. This fic shows what those favors might entail, as a girl goes on the run from Kou Kaku Rou, only to have something follow her. His Paleness never named, and the build up to the reveal is quite stealthy, which leaves one shuddering at what the ending strongly implies... Lady Ganesh's fics are always deftly-cut gems, but this one especially lingered with me for a long time after I finished reading it. Run For Your Life
