Fandom: SLINGS & ARROWS
Pairing: Darren Nichols/Geoffrey Tennant
Length: 1300 words
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] sdwolfpup
Author Website: fic tag on LJ (and DW)
Why this must be read:

It's a great pre-series story of Geoffrey and Darren, with voices so spot-on that you'll believe these two really are the younger versions of the two we saw on the show, years later and far more adversarial. Even Ellen, who's only discussed, comes through as vividly as the men talking about her. And the banter here is an absolute delight.

Why this must be read:

Oh this choice made me laugh out hard that I nearly fell out of my chair. The entire story is told in tweets, which by itself is just awesome, but character voices are captured so well that I can literally see Merlin and gang tapping away at IPhones and laptops with their latest life news. I'm not usually a fan of modern AUs, but this one was just too unique to pass up. And boy am I glad I didn't! Go enjoy the zaniness!!

12:23 pm The Lost Art of Keeping a Secret by tourofduty (PG)
The Australian Open starts on Monday.  This particular fic seems a good way to get into the spirit.

Fandom: MEN'S PROFESSIONAL TENNIS RPS
Pairing: Jim Courier/Lleyton Hewitt
Length: ~ 1000 words
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] tourofduty
Author Website: [livejournal.com profile] tourofduty
Why this must be read: There's something about Jim Courier, great champion and Hall of Famer, doing on-court interviews at the Australian Open that seems to bring out the best responses in players (that it sometimes comes off as if Jim's trying to get a date with one doesn't hurt).  In this fic that includes the somewhat prickly Lleyton, who he's dating and really not doing a good job of hiding.  You kind of feel for Lleyton (as well as other commentator John McEnroe) being stuck as Jim's five senses have him drifting.  This author also has a few other stories with this pairing at her journal.

Fandom: STARSKY AND HUTCH
Pairing: Starsky/Hutch
Length: 10,165 words
Author on LJ: Mystic Whim
Author's Website: Parker Center Playground
Why this must be read: Who can resist a good post SR story where Starsky is recovering from his wounds and Hutch is caring for him while dealing with his own demons? And then they discover each other....
Mystic Whim brings it all alive in this touching, sexy first-encounter story.

Pairing: Doyle/Bodie:
Length: 15K:
Author on LJ: alicia
Author Website: Alicia's stories can be found at www.thecircuitarchives.com using the author search

Why this must be read: Bodie is a complicated character, all spit and polish on the outside and few, if any, ever get to see what's inside. This story takes you inside his mind and heart as he struggles to convince himself that everything is fine in the aftermath of having his heart broken. Wonderfully written, touching and angst galore.

Have your hankies ready!

Fandom: WATCHMEN
Pairing: Dan / Rorschach
Length: >18K
Author on LJ: Anonymous (if the author has de-anoned, please tell me and I'll correct!)
Author Website: Watchmen Kinkmeme v. 5.0
Why this must be read:

This began with the prompt, "Walter gets arrested on a charge completely unrelated to his being Rorschach. What happens next?"

What happens is an adventure that begins with furtive, coded letters and mafia plots. It gives tantalizing glimpses of Rorschach having to cope far out of his comfort zone while Dan finds his all over again. It reveals the ways in which misunderstandings can steer history, writing can be the best way to communicate, and how the fragments of a partnership can be pieced back together.

I loved reading this fic as it was delivered chapter by chapter on the Kinkmeme, and I'm beyond excited that it's finally finished so I can share it here!
