Why this must be read: Most of the longer fics in fandom are of the crazy AU variety.  Once you get absorbed into the particular world, there's a lot of silliness but it's still a fun ride.  This fic definitely qualifies, using the real knowledge of Juan Carlos having established his own successful hotel, Hotel Ferrero, and turning it into a fic involving a secondary tennis tour full of vampires.  Andy and Rafael, both on the human tennis tour, stumble upon vampire tennis players Novak and Carlos which leads to finding out about the secret to other human players' success involves half-vampire stringer Richard and a chain of Hotel Ferreros.

Fandom: HAWAII FIVE-0
Pairing: none
Length: 1678 words
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] seraphazrael
Author Website: none that I could find
Why this must be read:

A stirring look into the sharing of traditions, the transition from soldier to cop, and the coming together of a team into family. Azrael re-wrote a moment from the 1st episode into a scene with such depth and weight that I dare you not to be moved. Danny shares a gift from his past in the NJ police world, using it bring Steve into the new law enforcement side of the law and order family and gifting them all with protection and friendship. A very nice look at early H50 that shows us so many hints of what this group of four individuals will grow into.

12:40 pm Where There's Smoke by Verlaine (ADULT)
Fandom: THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN
Pairing: Vin/Ezra, Chris/Vin/Ezra
Length: 500
Author on lj: [livejournal.com profile] loyseofverlaine
Author website: Verlaine's stories on AO3

Why this must be read:  First I again beg indulgence for reccing a story written to a prompt from me... Verlaine needs no indulgence though.  She's a wonderful, stylish author in several fandoms and the (sad) fact that she doesn't write Mag7 as a general rule should not stop you from reading this and imagining how great it would be if she did... It's a very short 'short' (linked drabbles) featuring, let us say, a combination of Vin, Ezra and Chris - one of those pieces that, despite its brevity, creates such a world and atmosphere that you think you must have read something much longer.

In their different ways, Vin and Ezra were both masters of camouflage.  For Vin it was grey and brown clothing and movements as silent and supple as a sidewinder; for Ezra it was a flowery mix of language and dress and manners that implied he was a gentleman amusing himself playing a lawman.

07:06 pm The Knitting Kind by Matchbox_bones (PG-13)
Fandom: BANDOM (MCR)

Pairing: Frank Iero/Gerard Way

Length: 2,756 words

Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] matchbox_bones

Author Website: Fic tag

Why this must be read: Kicking off the "All AU, All the Time" (final) theme for my recs is a story posted a mere day ago. I was so charmed by its premise that I just had to rec it.

In this story, the author takes Gerard's canonical aversion to needles and gives it a twist by making him afraid of knitting needles. Normally, Gerard wouldn't think about it too much except for this one time when the one art store clerk who talks to him is none other than knitting enthusiast!Frank.

Trying to appear less failboat-y to Frank, Gerard lets him believe that he's just as much into yarn and knitting as Frank is. Of course, Gerard's lie prompts all kinds of randomly hilarious results.

Craftster!AU is one of those tropes Bandom really knows how to work. This story is just the latest example of the great type of fic this fandom has to offer.
