Howdy! My name is georgiesmith and I'll be driving the Stargate van for April. I'd signed up so long ago that when I got a message telling me it was my turn I was quite surprised. Delightedly so.

I've gone through the stories previously recced, so I'm hoping that I don't have too many duplicates. (Well, any would be best but I'm hedging my bets a bit.)

It's been a while since I've done this, so please bear with me this month as I fumble through.

Why this must be read: Even though this is a gen story, it's also a love story between John and Rodney. Their faith and devotion to one another shine through in this gem by sardonicsmiley. The story is heartwarming, poignant, funny and utterly addictive. I'm loathe to give too much away because I don't want to ruin it for any of you who read this for the first time, so I'm just asking you to take me at my word that this is a story that is utterly worthy of your time.

There is a link at the bottom of the story page for snippets set in the same universe. All three of them are wonderful and I recommend them wholeheartedly. (Be sure to read them in order.)

I've put a picture under the cut that, when I first saw it, made me immediately think of this story. Even though it doesn't have anything to do with the story per se, it's kind of a spoiler so don't peek until you've either finished the story or at until you've found out what's happened to Rodney.

Why this must be read:

Many are the Alternate Universe stories in which Qui-Gon Jinn survives being impaled: some in which he evades the Dark Lord, some in which Obi-Wan gets the shaft instead, and others in which Maul and Jinn sit down to hash out their differences without fighting. This story has none of those. Instead, it is a hilarious take on what would happen if events conspired to make the Theed generator room not such a tragic place, after all, and if such events led little Anakin to come live with Jinn and Kenobi, in the weeks before Kenobi must face his Trials, with all the arduous studies that lead up to them. Which would go a lot smoother with as little interference from kids younglings as possible. See Kenobi make party invitations with glitter, endure Jinn's flirting with Shmi, and flail in his own self-doubt. For an April Fool's Day tale, there is none better.
