Why this must be read:
This story is a fantastic casefic and character portrait. It starts out with a mystery -- what happened to cause Hawkeye to shoot Coulson during three missing days Coulson can't remember? This story has action and adventuring in abundance, and even though all of the emotions are stoically understated or implied, the emotional payoff is high. Be warned, there is a lot of physical and psychological torture in this story, but the characterizations of Coulson and Barton are phenomenally nuanced and the writing is superb. I HIGHLY recommend this one.

Why you must read this: Lee's writing is sophisticated and engaging. Harry finds his wife shagging Scorpius Malfoy and from there, everything he knows spins out of control. Until Luna. Everything is in character here, from Ginny and her indiscretions to a very amusing Draco. The relationships between Harry and all of his kids completely steal the show here. Lee writes Luna and her zany characteristics perfectly here and she's not over the top at all. If you're normally into canon pairings, this is a great introduction to something a bit more spicy.






A Life So Very Much Less Than Ordinary

Why this must be read: Gosh, where to start? I love all of the episodes of the show where we've met alternate universe versions of the team, so when I find a piece of fan fiction that's able to pull that trope off really well, it's an immediate favorite of mine.

Additionally, when it's xanthe, who is one of the best writers I've come across in any fandom, the stories tend to be deliciously plot-heavy, character-driven novels that you just want to curl up with in your favorite comfy chair and your hot beverage of choice and indulge yourself.

This story is part of xanthe's BDSM universe where bi-sexuality is the norm and a majority of people identify as either a dom, a sub or a switch. The twist here is that xanthe's taken the General Sheppard and Dr. Rodney Sheppard from her BDSM universe and through a mistake on 'our' Rodney's part brings them over our universe. For all their differences, the four men learn some hard truths about themselves from their alternate selves; sometimes funny, sometimes petty, sometimes violent but always true to the core of the characters we know and love. Actually, it's not just the Johns and Rodneys who come away with personal epiphanies, and I loved that. I loved that no matter what universe they're in Sheppard and McKay make an impact on the people around them, the people who matter to them.

It's just a marvelous story in every respect. And, hey, if you like it there are two other Stargate Atlantis stories set in this universe for you to enjoy!
