Why this must be read: The author says this is crack, but that's doing a disservice to this fic, which, while it's definitely in a cracktastic setting, and definitely romantic, is a fun and deft exploration of their characters. I love Robert's spoiled brattiness and how it feels real without making him any less endearing, as much as I love Eames' swarthy sexuality, his inability to keep from flirting and coddling Robert and falling in love.

Tennis AU! Seriously, I was frantically refreshing the kinkmeme every day when this was being posted last year, and I don't even like tennis all that much! It is a spectacularly well-written story, and even though the characters are all tennis players, they still have the same personalities from the show. So good. Check out the sequels, too.

Author's Summary: John and Sherlock are professional tennis players and it’s Wimbledon. One is a broken almost was at the end of his career, the other an arrogant rising star tipped for greatness. It should have been a straightforward tournament. It really should have been. How were they to know that a chance encounter would change everything?

We all need a little well-written fluff in our lives.

Why this must be read: If you've never had the pleasure of experiencing Indysaur's writing, I envy you the first time. This fic is a fairy tale fusion with elements from Fables and several fairy tales you'll recognize--a magic- based AU where Arthur is a dreamwalker and Eames is still a thief for hire. It's a beautiful, heartshattering Arthur/Eames fic, but most of all it's a brilliant myth about love, atonement, and forgiveness. Rich with emotion and full of a hundred breathtaking details, "Go Up to the Resting Place" is one of the most lovely, surprising, and unforgettable fics I've read in this fandom.

Why this must be read:

It's been a few years since I first read this fic but it still remains uncontested, one of the BEST post-apocolytic stories I've ever had the pleasure to read.  Set post X-Men: The Last Stand, the world has gone to shit following Phoenix's rampage.  Rogue (who for the sake of this fic, didn't get the Cure and instead went to fight) and Bobby miraculously escape the destruction with the unintentional help of Pyro and the three of them are left in a seemingly empty world.

This fic is disturbing in its imagery without being overly so.  The characterization is phenomenal and old hurts and pent up emotions just grip you because the author makes it clear that these characters are TEENS playing at being soldier.  They have opinions and they think what they were doing was ultimately right and made sense but they were also friends once upon a time.  In a world where they're stumbling around without anyone but each other, names become powerful things and the author devestatingly depicts the meaning of the transition of what they call each other.

Oh, and the smut it pretty hot (and cold) too.

I love fics that feature other known actors, so this one was a real treat. Start with Gen, Daneel, Chris, Jensen and Misha as housemates looking for someone to represent normalcy. Then add in recently widowed Jared and his young daughter, fun dialogue, sweet romance, and you have a really cool story, with lots of fun AU elements. And a Misha who hates wearing pants.

Why this must be read: Annieeeeeee. She is hot as hell in this fic. It also presses my domesticity/established relationship buttons, since Sam and Annie are decorating their house. Fluff with snark, plus exploration of what Annie means to Sam? Couldn't ask for anything more, really.

She has a sweet chin. It gives her face this heart-shaped look that’s thoroughly appealing – adding a naivety he knows is completely synthetic. Her jaw line is curved, but prominent, belying her sweet-as-molasses appearance and supporting her tough as nails interior. Sam’s always had a thing for powerful, confident women. Ever since she punched him in the back, that first day, he’s replayed his meeting her with an almost reverent fever.

“Sam, have you been listening to a word I’ve said?”

“Yeah, you said you wanted to paint the room yellow – a nice neutral colour,” Sam replies.

“Right.” Annie tugs on his arm. “How’d you do that? You were totally off with the pixies then.”

Illya tells Napoleon not to make a pass at him and Napoleon respects the request, even though it is extremely difficult for him. Unfortunately, Illya realizes belatedly that he wants Napoleon and he doesn't know how to manage it. He doesn't want to go back on his word and he doesn't know what to say to make things happen.

TheRimmerConnection does a wonderful job of letting us see the agents' emotions and thoughts. You will really empathize with them.

This story has Tony trying to communicate with his team mates while he's suffering from a concussion. Unfortunately, his English-Marine, English-Geek and English-Smug dictionaries need some...tweaking. *g* (Also? There are Monty Python quotes. You can't go wrong with a story that features Monty Python quotes!)
