10:19 am Passing the Torch by calapine (PG)
Fandom: DOCTOR WHO
Pairing: kinda Donna Noble/Romana & Donna Noble/Jack Harkness (with implied Doctor/Romana and Doctor/Master)
Length: 1,433 words
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] calapine
Author Website: fic tag on LJ, Calapine on Teaspoon
Why this must be read:
Uuuuuuhhhhhhh, warning for implied death? Because the Doctor is dead. He's asked Donna to carry on his legacy. This is pure, unadulterated crack of the finest kind and not angsty at all. I absolutely adore Donna's choice of Companion, too. Hehehehhehe.

I'm also recommending everything Calapine has ever written, basically, and her vids, too. Check out it out!

Fandom: DOCTOR WHO
Pairing: Amy Pond/Rory Williams (Rose Tyler/Doctor implied)
Length: 2,762 words
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] rosa_acicularis
Author Website: fic tag on LJ, on Teaspoon
Why this must be read:
Remember when Rose Tyler went traveling across universes and time, trying to find the Doctor? This one time, she ended up in Amy Pond's yard.

Fantastic story! There is a reason the author has been recommended here before! Go read everything she has written.

02:39 pm Nightingale and Not the Lark by redorchids (NC-17)
Fandom: BANDOM
Pairing: Patrick Stump/Pete Wentz
Length: Novella
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] redorchids
Author Website: Masterlist
Why this must be read: This fic. Oh, this fic. It's a CSI verse story where Pete is a detective that joins up with Ryan Ross' CSI team and Patrick is the son of his boss. There's murder and mystery and a beautiful plot involving Patrick's relationship with both his religion and his feelings for Pete. I cried during this, and spent the last chapter with my hand over the bottom of the screen to keep from spoiling myself. It's beautiful and full of images that will absolutely take your breath away. Warnings for sex between a minor and an adult and minor character death.

03:20 pm The Devil You Know by RosiePaw (Teen And Up Audiences)
Fandom: SHERLOCK HOLMES FRANCHISE
Pairing: Sherlock Holmes/John Watson
Length: 5315 words
Author on LJ:[livejournal.com profile] rosiepaw Not Updated
Author Website: RosiePaw’s stories on AO3
Why this must be read: Because this AU where Mycroft and Sherlock are agents of hell is so much fun. After John is shot he makes a deal with the Devil (well Mycroft). John is just so blasé about selling his soul and everything demonic. The relationship between John and Sherlock is really lovely. Mycroft is wonderfully devilish in his very Mycroft way. There are a lot of brilliant Devil/Angel AUs in the Sherlock fandom and this is one of my favorites.

07:39 pm "Another Kind of Beautiful" by Hotarumyst (R)
Fandom: SUPER JUNIOR
Pairing: Ryeowook/Yesung
Length: ~7,500w
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] hotarumyst
Author Website: [livejournal.com profile] ourhandsfroze
Why this must be read: Hotarumyst writes fun and unusual AU premises, and uses them to convey deeper lessons or thoughts about k-pop or the world in general. While her work isn't flawless, I think it works in her favor; in this piece, particularly, it helps to convey a sense of muted, yet raw urgency. This is a future!AU which muses not only on the importance and frailty of "humanity," but also echoes in the real-life practice of making k-pop stars undergo plastic surgery so that they all conform to a uniform standard of beauty.

It's hard to imagine that we're already halfway through the month, isn't it? Hope you're enjoying the recs so far!

09:25 pm Tire Swing by Kate Roman (PG)
Fandom: STARSKY & HUTCH
Pairing: Starsky/Hutch (alluded)
Length: Perfectly succinct
Author on LJ: Kate Roman
Author's Website: http://romankate.livejournal.com/
Why this must be read: What could be more satisfying than the perfect little story? In my eyes, nothing. Kate always hits the bulls-eye when it comes to beautifully constructed stories, characters who walk from the words to life, shared visions, and exquisite language. She is the mistress of beautiful encounters, and always manages such memorable tenderness. She demonstrates, again and again, that taboos betweeen these boys only exist to be smashed to rubble.

Here, summer calls the boys to a playground, a tire swing, and an affirmation of what a special friend - what a special partnership - can mean when life seems bleak, and when memories reach out their threatening claws.

What could be more cherished than someone to lean on...someone to hear the words you never dared to speak? And beyond the confession, what about the comfort, after the words are gone, of the hand on your shoulder?

Who can you trust? Hutch knows. Yes, he knows.

Please - read along with me. Join the boys on this summer evening - and see for yourself.
